Relaxation Massage

Have you been constantly suffering from the effects of tight neck and shoulder muscles, head- aches, restless sleep and stiff joints?
Excessive keyboard work, stress and poor posture are only some of the causes of these symptoms.

Stress can increase the incidence of various diseases and reduce recovery time.

Stress can also cause and exacerbate many chronic problems such as hypertension, migraines, digestive problems and PMS. By reducing stress, inducing relaxation, the progression of chronic conditions can be reduced. Massage therapy is an excellent way of achieving this goal.

Don’t suffer any longer, book a relaxing Holistic Massage session and we will endeavor to address those niggling problems for you.

What is Holistic Massage?

Holistic massage is an ancient technique used to treat the body, mind and spirit; it helps to maintain general health and wellbeing and complements modern medicine.
Many people with particularly hectic lifestyles have built up a routine of regular treatments and have benefited from the calming/relaxing effects of massage.
There are many therapeutic benefits to be derived from regular massage.
Massage can:
• Calm and relax the body and relieve muscle tension;
• Improve nerve action by the stimulation of muscle tissues;
• Improve the body’s circulation;
• Increases lymphatic flow and help the body to get rid of toxins;
• Improve skin and muscle tone;
• Induce a more restful sleep pattern;
• Improve the functions of the digestive system;
• Decongest sinuses, nerve pathways and respiratory system;
• Strengthen bones and mobilize joints;
• Boost the immune system and aid healing:

What to expect before your massage

Prior to your massage, you will be asked to fill out a personal health form asking questions about your general health. This information is confidential and is designed to help the therapist understand your physical condition prior to beginning the massage. Please feel free to discuss any concerns you have about the session. It is important that you are comfortable during the massage and that you know what to expect.

What happens at your session?

You can speak to your massage therapist about your health in general and about anything currently happening in your body that massage might be able to help (e.g., tight shoulders, stiff neck, lower back pain, sore arms or calves, tension headaches, etc.) This helps to determine if there are any medical reasons which may prevent you from having a massage. It also helps your practitioner tailor the massage to meet your current needs.

You will receive your massage in a private room, in a space your practitioner has set up to maximize your relaxation and comfort. This will be a calm and peaceful place, where there will very likely be relaxing music playing in the background.

You will be asked to undress to whatever degree is comfortable for you. Again, you will be doing this in a private space. You will be lying on a very comfortable table and you will be completely draped with large towels during the entire time you are receiving the massage. You will be allowed a few moments in private to undress, and relax on the table before the massage begins. Only one part of your body will be massaged at a time, and only that part (an arm, a leg, back, a foot, etc.) will be uncovered.
A lotion or oil will be used during the massage.

Remember, the time is yours. If at any time you become uncomfortable please say so. If you want extra work on a particular area, you may request it. If you prefer that an area of your body not be touched, you can request that as well. Your practitioner will respond to whatever you feel is right for you.

At the end of the session, the practitioner will tell you that they have finished, and will leave you on the table to relax for a few minutes. They will then return to assist you from the table and leave you to get dressed. At this time, you are likely to be in a deeply relaxed state, so you are advised not to jump up too quickly from the table.
