SERVICES
In my experience, bodywork is a fantastic way of allowing positive and gentle change into our lives. It can provide a greater degree of physical comfort and assurance and allow us to become freer within ourselves and to realise our potential more fully, helping us to find peace and happiness through life’s changes. Over the last fifteen years I’ve gradually developed my self awareness through martial arts training, tai chi, chi gong and acupuncture as well as Zero Balancing. My own experience of deep transformation through having regular Zero Balancing sessions led me to train as a practitioner.

Zero balancing is a deeply relaxing form of bodywork which uses stretches and gentle pressure to release tension in and around the bones and joints, encouraging energy to flow more smoothly and evenly through the structure of the body. It evaluates and improves the function of the joints, working towards optimum balance and efficiency in their relationship with the body as a whole. A well aligned skeleton means the weight of the body is supported and the muscles don’t hold excessive tension.

When we ‘find’ our bones and trust our skeleton to support us, we feel lighter, clearer, and more connected. We may start to feel more present in our bodies, finding new ways of moving that are more efficient and less effort. As we start to become more aligned within ourselves, the body’s natural capacity for self healing increases. When energy that was locked up in muscle tension is freed up, we can use it for other things and may have a feeling of renewed energy. When energy is integrated with the bones we get a deeper sense of connection with our core selves. We may become more aware of what we really want, and find that we are better able to cope with stressful situations.

Swedish massage is a medium pressure massage which reduces muscle tension and is a relaxing, calming experience. It is firmer than an aromatherapy massage but less specific than sports or remedial massage. If there are any areas of tension, pain or limited movement I will give particular attention to these during the course of the massage. Tight muscles can feel sore when they are being massaged, but I will always ask you whether the level of pressure feels ok.

Before you lie down in the couch, I will take a short medical history and find out about your current health and what you would like from the massage. Afterwards you may feel slightly sore but this will pass within a day or two. It’s a good idea to drink plenty of water afterwards, as this will help get rid of any toxins which have been released from your system. Salt baths can also help.

After a massage, people often feel more comfortable and relaxed within themselves, are aware of holding onto less tension, feel freer in their movement, and have more energy and vitality.
