Welcome to College of Ayurveda
Ayurveda is an ancient Indian medical science, the origin of which can be traced back more than 5000 years. The source of Ayurveda is the Vedas, the oldest available classics. Ayurveda is a Sanskrit word, derived from two roots: AYRS, meaning life, and VEDA, meaning knowledge. It is fair to say that Ayurveda is a science of life.

We offer the following Ayurvedic programmes and workshops
  • Diploma in Ayurvedic Healthcare
  • Certificate in Ayurvedic Massage Therapy
  • Certificate in Ayurvedic Diet & Lifestyle Management
  • Certificate in Ayurvedic Beauty Therapy
  • Certificate in Palicha Karma Therapy

The above programmes are planned to start from February 2010
Classes will be held in London during the weekends.
Class numbers are limited and students will be admitted on a firstcome-first-served basis.

University Courses

BSc Honours Complementary Health Sciences (Ayurveda)

Jointly developed by Middlesex University and the College of Ayurveda our Ayurvedic Medicine, the BSc is an innovative three year programme that enables students to acquire a thorough grounding in the philosophy and science of Ayurveda. Graduates will be able to practise as Ayurvedic therapists, providing therapy and advice in areas such as massage, diet and nutrition, stress management, and lifestyle choices. They will be eligible to join the Ayurvedic Medical Association (AMA).

Graduates who wish to progress to become fully-fledged Ayurvedic practitioners, qualified to prescribe Ayurvedic medicines as well as giving massage and dietary advice, may apply for entry to the one-year PGDip/MSc in Ayurvedic Medicine.

For more information on the course content and the admission procedure, please visit Middlesex University.

MSc/PGDip Ayurvedic Medicine

A unique one-year programme, delivered jointly by Middlesex University and the College of Ayurveda, that provides students who already have a degree-level qualification in Ayurveda with the advanced knowledge and skills to enable them to practise professionally and independently as practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine. An integral part of the programme is a 16-week clinical placement in India and/or Sri Lanka.

Pending the establishment of a regulatory body for complementary medicine practitioners in the UK, the professional bodies that oversee Ayurvedic medicine are the Ayurvedic Medical Association and the Ayurvedic Practitioners’ Association. Upon successful completion of the programme, graduates may apply to join either of these organisations as full practitioners.
