SERVICES
About Pam

As well as 4 years experience of counselling clients with depression and anxiety, I have eight years experience as a paid worker in a domestic abuse charity.

I was a Staff Counsellor at University Hospital South Manchester for 3 years (2005 - 08).
I have worked at The Counselling and Family Centre in Altrincham for a total of 2 ½ years, with both individuals and couples, and as a telephone helpline worker.

I have trained in women’s sexual health issues with the Public Health Development Service and have four years experience of working with clients who have low mood around the time of menopause.
I also have seven years experience of supporting clients with disabilities.

I have worked in private practice since April 2008 and I am currently undertaking additional training at Relate in working with couples and family members.

I was a volunteer listener at the Creative Living Centre drop in for former mental health patients (Bury) from 2004-05.
I volunteered as a Bereavement Visitor from 2004-06.

Personal Counselling

In difficult times a course of counselling can really help.
My name is Pam Arland and I am a fully qualified Counsellor trained in working with individuals and couples/family members. I am registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I offer counselling at cheap rates in a practice room within my home, close to Tesco in central Altrincham. There is no external signage to indicate that it is a counselling practice.
The counselling room is warm and comfortable with free tea, coffee, hot chocolate and water.
Counselling is available not only during the day but also in the evenings and at weekends. You will usually get your first appointment within one week of contacting me.
You can pay using cash or cheque at the end of each session.
You can pay by card before the session by going online and using PayPal.
I welcome people of all races, cultures, ages and sexual orientation.
I can make arrangements for us to use an accessible room if my practice room is not suitable.

Counselling for Individuals

There are very many ‘models’ of counselling. With individuals I work primarily to the Person Centred model which is one of the most widely used.
When you work with me it is your choice what you choose to talk about in our sessions - usually you will talk about your life and particularly what you are finding difficult. My role is to guide you to focus on what you are feeling, then to help you change that. We work at your pace and I don’t pressure you.
Taking time out to look at your feelings within a structured framework in this way, with the support of a counsellor, can have a profound, positive effect on the way you look at and cope with your life. It can help you determine what you want out of life and find a realistic way to move forward. It can help to ease low mood, anxiety and depression. Sessions are usually weekly and last 50 minutes. We will review regularly together how you feel counselling is going and whether it is being effective.

Fees

Per session Monday - Friday before 5pm £30.
Per session Monday - Friday 5pm onwards or Saturday £35.
All fees become payable at the end of each session.

Couples / Relationship Counselling

When you work with me, we all set the agenda together and work towards an outcome which feels right for you both.
There are very many ‘models’ of counselling. With couples or family members I use an integrative approach, drawing on widely-used psychodynamic theory, transactional analysis and systemic formulation.
Taking time out to look at your relationship within a structured framework in this way, with the support of a counsellor, can have a profound effect on your relationship and your role within it. It can help you determine what you want from the relationship and find a realistic way to move forward - together or apart. Individually it can help to ease low mood, anxiety and depression.
Sessions are usually weekly and last 60 minutes. We will review regularly together how you feel counselling is going and whether it is being effective.

Fees

Per session Monday - Friday before 5pm £35.
Per session Monday - Friday 5pm onwards or Saturday £40.
All fees become payable at the end of each session.

Effectiveness of Therapy

In every session I use the widely-recognised Clinical Outcomes in Routine Evaluation (CORE) tool to measure the level of the my client’s mood. (We work through the evaluation together.)
The weekly evaluation enables me to monitor and demonstrate the effectiveness of the therapy I deliver and also performs a vital Risk Assessment function.

Counselling Services for Business

In difficult times cost-saving Counselling can bring big benefits to your organisation and enhance your employer profile.

I provide professional counselling to support businesses in two areas:
Staff Counselling and Family Law Counselling

Staff Counselling

From as little as £299 Arland Counselling provides a package of 6 x 50 minute Counselling Sessions tailored to your employee’s needs.

This simple measure often provides an employee with enough support to overcome their depression or stress and to regain their effectiveness in the workplace. Or to understand their anger and to develop control of it.
Packages are tailored to your organisation’s needs so there is scope to work for longer with Staff Members experiencing severe or prolonged symptoms, or to purchase more economical packages for multiple employees on a monthly, quarterly or annual sessional basis.
Counselling sessions can take place either on your own premises or at the Arland Counselling Practice which is a discreet, quiet and relaxing setting in a pleasant part of Altrincham.

Counselling for Family Law

Arland Counselling offers Family Law Clients, usually couples, support to manage the intense feelings which accompany separation and divorce. Working with a trained Relationship Counsellor in a neutral setting can give Clients the ‘space’ to get their feelings in perspective and focus on finding ways forward which feel right for both of them.
Counselling can take place either on your practice premises or at the Arland Counselling Practice which is a discreet, quiet and relaxing setting in a pleasant part of Altrincham.
