SERVICES
Welcome to A Point of Balance

Hello and welcome to A Point of Balance. My name is Yvonne Edington, and I am a licensed acupuncturist and tui na therapist and a member of The British Acupuncture Council. I graduated from the London College of Traditional Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine taking a degree in acupuncture and tui na.

Although I grew up in a traditional home where Western medicine was practiced, as an adult I came to understand that other medical traditions are also valuable. My philosophy of health is now inclusive of all paths that lead to a point of balance, but the one I practice is that of Chinese medicine including acupuncture and tui na. Chinese medicine focuses on bringing the body back to balance. Each path to health and happiness has a place and purpose. My hope is that you will choose acupuncture and/or tui na which use the principles of Chinese medicine as one of the paths you take toward balance and health.

Please call me to see if acupuncture or tui na is right for you.

Acupuncture Treatments

What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a holistic approach to health based on the 2,000 years of development and refinement in the East. The acupuncturist uses their ability to tap into the points on the 14 meridians of the body with fine, sterile, disposable needles to encourage the healing mechanism of the body. The acupuncturist also uses their knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine to diagnose patients by looking at the tongue and taking the pulse. Ancillary treatments like cupping and moxibustion may also be used in an acupuncture treatment.
Acupuncture treatments for addiction are done in the ear.

What is Tui Na?

Tui Na is a medical massage based on the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine that targets specific points of injury or pain. Tui (push) Na (pluck) is done mostly through the clothes or under a sheet. Patients are encouraged to wear loose fitting clothing when coming for treatment. Ancillary treatments like cupping or moxibustion may also be used in a Tui Na session.

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic Acupuncture is an effective, non-surgical treatment to reduce the signs of aging. It is based on the principles of Chinese Medicine, which involves the insertion of very thin disposable needles into the acupuncture points on the face. This superficial insertion will increase the local circulation to the face which will fill out the lines and give firmness to the skin for a healthy, glowing complexion. Patients are encouraged to have 1-3 treatments a week for a total of 10-12 treatments for best results.
