Do you feel stressed or anxious? Having trouble sleeping? Or perhaps you're experiencing panic attacks or just not really coping with the problems that life is throwing at you.

We can all go through bad patches and this is when we need the help and support of someone neutral and qualified to offer such help. This is where I come in - I've many years experience of helping people with psychological and emotional problems and aim to get you back on track as soon as possible.

Please read on to learn more about me and the therapies I offer.

About Anne Allen B.A., D.H.P

I offer an holistic approach to healing with a combination of psychotherapy, hypnotherapy, counselling and Reiki. This enables me to offer speedy results with such issues as insomnia, fears, phobias, anxiety, depression, lack of confidence, relationship problems or the need to make positive changes in your life.

I have been an hypnotherapist, psychotherapist and counsellor since 1983. Over the years I have worked with hundreds of clients throughout the UK, Guernsey and Spain.

For several years I was affiliated to medical practices and I have been a registered Counsellor for an Employee Assistance Programme.

In 2009 I followed courses in Reiki, becoming a Master in early 2010.

I have always worked holistically with my clients and have encouraged them to let go outmoded behaviour patterns and regain control of their lives.

The result is that they have achieved a greater sense of self-worth, leading to happier and healthier lives.

Hypnotherapy

Modern therapeutic hypnosis is one of the quickest, safest and most effective forms of treatment for emotional and psychological problems. Hypnosis is a pleasant, deep state of relaxation which you allow yourself to enter and during which you achieve an altered state of conscious awareness and heightened susceptibility.

The ability to respond to hypnosis lies within the individual and has nothing to do with willpower or the lack of it. It is a perfectly natural experience and is always self-induced – we all pass through a similar state as we fall asleep.

The hypnotherapist contacts the subconscious mind, the storehouse of our total experiences. This includes memories of everything that has ever happened to someone, whether or not they can consciously remember them. The subconscious mind has no critical faculty and will accept the positive suggestions given by the therapist and direct the mind and body accordingly.

A person in the hypnotic state usually feels pleasantly relaxed and is ideally lying in a reclining chair or on a couch. No drugs are used.
The hypnotised person is fully aware of everything that is happening and is able to leave the hypnotic state at any time. They remain in full control.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy and counselling overlap. Psychotherapy deals with more deep-seated personal issues and may bring about profound, positive changes. Psychotherapy allows you to find your own solutions in life and deepens your understanding by exploring your feelings, attitudes and beliefs.

In psychotherapy you are encouraged to look closely at your past, your childhood and relationships, particularly with your parents. This analysis may reveal behaviour patterns and negative habits that have become subconscious. These can then be understood and changed.
You might be considering psychotherapy in order to know yourself better, to improve your relationships and to live a richer, more satisfying life. Psychotherapy can also remove the barriers to your inherent inner creativity.

Counselling

The aim of counselling is to help you to develop insight into your problem by drawing on your own resources, enabling you to approach life in a fresh, more positive way. It is based on building a respectful and trusting relationship between client and counsellor.

The counselling process will help you to feel more in control of your life and to let go old behaviour pattens. Counselling is primarily aimed at helping resolve more recent issues such as a bereavement or a relationship problem where the cause is more apparent. Being able to talk through one's feelings with someone not involved in the problem is very liberating and can produce tremendous insight that had been blocked by the emotions.

Reiki

What can Reiki do?

Anyone can benefit from a course of Reiki treatments, no matter what your age or your state of health, and beneficial changes can take place over a fairly short space of time. Reiki can produce:
  • A speeding up of the natural healing process
  • Boosted energy levels
  • Reduced stress & anxiety
  • A feeling of inner calm, contentment and serenity
  • Develop a strong sense of purpose and clear-thinking
  • Remove some of the ‘clutter’ from your life
Reiki can also help you to:
  • Feel more positive, confident and better able to cope
  • Enjoy a better quality of life

Reiki Treatments

Receiving Reiki from a practitioner is a simple process. The client lies on a treatment table and the practitioner will gently lay their hands on the body in a series of hand positions on the head, torso and legs, sometimes hovering the hands rather than touching. Each hand position is held for a few minutes. During the treatment, energy (called 'chi') is drawn through the practitioner into the recipient, helping to produce a state of balance. The recipient remains clothed throughout the session.

What might I feel?

Deep relaxation, heat from the practitioner's hands, perhaps tingling, a feeling of floating or sinking, or perhaps nothing at all. It varies a lot from one person to another.

No matter what you feel, Reiki is giving you what you need.

How many treatments?

Just a one-off Reiki treatment will do something beneficial for you, bringing a sense of calm and peacefulness and possibly some short-term physical benefits too. However, the best results come through having a course of treatments over a few weeks.

As the benefits of Reiki are accumulative, a course of treatment will help to produce long-term beneficial changes for you on all levels - mental, physical and emotional.
