Psychotherapy Earth Healing
At the heart of my working practice is a deep engagement with the transformation of distress, suffering, and our life-limiting views of what is possible for us. As this shift happens we experience life with more freedom, choice and authenticity, and we are able take our unique place in the world, and live the life we are here to live.

Just being alive brings times of change, challenge and opportunity, as well as times of ease and happiness. We all want to live with greater ease and more genuine happiness. The healing arts I practice re-awaken and strengthen our innate wisdom and compassion, thereby providing a secure base from which to meet the unpredictable nature of life.

Psychotherapy & Counselling
To my work as a mindfulness-based psychotherapist and counsellor, I bring 15 years experience of working with mindfulness with individuals and groups. Mindfulness helps us stay steady when the storms of life feel like they are going to overwhelm us. Mindfulness can also bring clarity, insight and compassion to the transitional times of life, when we are not sure which way to turn, or how to face a difficult situation or unknown path ahead. We can build our inner resources and gain insight through mindfulness and have more capacity to meet our daily life.

Psychotherapy re-awakens and strengthens our innate capacity of heal our self. My role is to be alongside you as you take this journey, and to guide where necessary. The space in which I work offers a safe, respectful place to explore your experiences, and aspects of life that feel unresolved or challenging and may include;
  • Relationships
  • Anxiety and depression
  • Eating disorders
  • Abuse
  • Living with serious illness
  • Bereavement
  • Ecological concerns
  • Spirituality
  • Experiencing a sense of separateness or disconnection from life
  • Transitions, moving into a different phase of life

The holding field I provide is one of acceptance, respect and compassion, honouring our diversity and the uniqueness of each individual’s journey. Psychotherapy and counselling happen on a weekly basis, and both short term and longer term work is possible.

Mentoring & Coaching through Mindfulness
Mentoring through mindfulness expands our capacity to see what is blocking us from expressing a fuller sense of our self in the world. Whilst we may consciously think we want to make a life change, be more creative, or move out of a stuck place in our life, unconsciously we may have a set of thoughts and beliefs about why this is not possible, or safe for us to do so. As long as these unconscious thoughts and beliefs are in place we limit what is possible for us. This can lead to feelings of frustration, depression and confusion. Mentoring through mindfulness can bring about fresh insights into how we think, feel and behave; thereby releasing the blocks that held us back from living in ways that are nourishing and give depth and meaning to our life.

Spiritual Mentoring and Healing
Spiritual Mentoring is engaged with exploring what gives meaning to our life. It can also be an exploration of our sense of belonging. So often in life we experience a sense of disconnection and of not belonging. Our spirituality can be that aspect of our self that questions deeply, seeks balance and harmony, and allows the movement of the heart in the face of suffering. Through re-engaging with this aspect of our self we feel more connected and have a clearer sense of our place in the world. The expressions of our spirituality are unique to each person. For some, spirituality is part of a religious framework, for others it is not.

We can be supported on our journey by having someone to inquire with, who can listen with all of the senses and provide a safe supportive space in which to reflect, question, doubt and explore.

‘Let the beauty we love be what we do’. Rumi

Some common themes explored in this work are; blocks to living life in a meaningful way, meditation, integrating spirituality into daily life, exploring existential and ecological concerns, establishing your spiritual path.

Women’s Healing Journeys
We have a beautiful mother
Her green lap immense
Her brown embrace eternal

- Alice Walker

This body of work constellates around healing in relationships, and healing our sense of separation and disconnection in life. We may feel this way for a whole range of reasons, some of which may be clear to us and some may not. These can include; experiencing shock, trauma, grief, accidents, dysfunctional ancestral patterns, or a lack of bonding with our mothers or primary carers when we were babies. Focusing on this aspect of healing assists us in; reclaiming our power, healing the past, becoming more grounded and discerning and being more present and aware in relationships. Journeying back to our self also returns our sense of belonging, joy and appreciation, and re-establishes our essential bond to our original mother, the earth.
This body of work takes place over a cycle of 8 sessions. We will work both outside with the land and indoors. Together we will co-create the content of the sessions. Alongside a safe respectful listening space, elements of the sessions may include; meditations, creativity, creating simple ceremony, walks of awareness and releasing energies that limit or block us in some way. This work can happen one to one, or it can take place in small groups.

Background and Qualifications
For many years I have worked with people living with cancer and other serious illness. For over 15 years I have worked in community or hospital mental health settings, this work is on-going and my roles have included; advocate, mentor, group facilitator, artist, and volunteering for a Spiritual and Pastoral Care team within the NHS. I have worked as a teacher in adult education and as a trainer in the voluntary sector. I have a background as an artist, and for many years I have regularly participated in Insight meditation retreats. More recently I have run nature-based retreats and workshops which explore our deep interconnectedness with the rest of nature, and the healing that comes from re-establishing this relationship. Through this work we see that suffering arises not just out of our wounded relationships with other humans, but also from our disconnection from the rest of nature.

In these times of great change and challenge my work seeks to support each of us to find the unique expression of who we are in this interdependent web of life; thereby enabling greater balance and harmony, less suffering and greater genuine happiness for all beings. I have an MA in Critical Theory and an MA in Core Process Psychotherapy. I am a UKCP accredited psychotherapist and committed to on-going learning in all aspects of life.
