SERVICES

Welcome to Ali Maidment Counselling

Ali Maidment - Dip Couns

I have a Diploma in Counselling and I am a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) I work within their Ethical Framework for Good Practice.

My approach is Humanistic and Integrative, which means the relationship I form with my client, is as important therapeutically as the techniques and methods I use. When working with my client I am able to draw on my knowledge of

  • Gestalt
  • CBT
  • Person Centred &
  • Psychodynamic
  • counselling approaches.

Following a career in IT and becoming a mother of two I retrained as a counsellor. I was drawn to working as a counsellor by my many emotional life experiences and through them I have learnt that I can help make a difference to people’s lives.

    Counselling

Within the safety and privacy of our sessions together you can take the time you need to talk through any issues or concerns affecting your health and well being. You can relax and be completely yourself. I will use my professional skills and expertise to support you and help you feel more in control of your life. Sharing your thoughts and feelings, in complete confidence, can bring relief and the release of emotions enabling you to see a way forward.

Counselling can help you to understand your thoughts and feelings leading you to discover new ways of thinking and behaving that will increase your confidence and give you energy for life.

    What happens next?

Making that first step to see a counsellor can be very daunting. It is normal to feel apprehensive when you start counselling and there is no right or wrong thing for you to say or do.

In the first session we will have the opportunity to discuss why you have come, for you to ask any questions about counselling and to air any concerns you may have. This first meeting will allow you to see whether you feel comfortable with me as a person. If at the end of the session we decide to work together then we arrange a further 6 to 8 one-hour sessions, usually on a weekly basis. Towards the end of this period we review the work and discuss future plans.

A session lasts one hour if you are late for a session then this counts as part of your hour.
