SERVICES

Welcome to Acupuncture Village

Who are we?

Acupuncture Village is Rod Clements and Heather Barwick. Our aim is to help as many people as possible using Chinese Medicine. We trained at the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in Reading, U.K. and were awarded a BSc (Hons) degree in Acupuncture by Kingston University as well as a Licentiate in Acupuncture (Lic Ac) by the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine. We practice both 5 Element Constitutional Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine.

We use Moxibustion, Gua-Sha, cupping, and Chinese massage (Tui-Na) when appropriate along with acupuncture to treat people.

What do we do?

The first step is to contact us to either make an appointment or to discuss your needs.

If, after this initial contact it would be beneficial to meet and discuss your situation in more detail, we can schedule a no obligation free chat. This will generally last from 20 to 30 minutes. This will be up to the practitioner’s discretion as most initial information can be dealt with over the phone.

Next, we arrange a suitable time and clinic for an in depth consultation. During the consultation, which will last between 1½ - 2 hours, you will be asked in detail about your condition. We will then examine your tongue and take your pulse. In cases of muscular skeletal injuries etc, further physical examination may be needed. We suggest you wear loose fitting clothes, no make up, perfume nor excess moisturiser.

Then we will proceed to ask more questions to gain an in depth understanding of your overall health, aside from the signs and symptoms associated with your condition. At times the questions may seem unrelated, but we are looking for patterns which help to explain your condition. The more you can tell us, the more accurate a diagnosis, and hence treatments will be.

A note about medications and other Western medical examinations: It is important for us to know any and all medications that you may have been prescribed. Drug side effects need to be incorporated into the patterns we find. This also includes any form of laxatives and indigestion antacids. For accuracy bring along a complete list. This should include when you started each. If you’ve had a blood test recently and/or have blood pressure issues any print out you have on these may be useful, even though we don’t diagnose in this manner.

At no time will we advise you to stop your medications. This should only be done in consultation with your doctor. As your condition improves it may become appropriate to discuss your medications with your doctor.

NB: The purpose of the initial appointment is to conduct an in depth consultation to enable a complete diagnosis to be made. You may or may not be treated on the same day depending on the complexity of the case. This will be up to the practitioner on the day.

After the consultation appointments for treatment will be made and payment taken.
