SERVICES
Traditional Acupuncture as practised by members of The British Acupuncture Council is based on Oriental medicine principles that have been developed and researched for over 2,000 years. Acupuncture offers effective benefits for a wide variety of conditions.

Help with stopping smoking and weight control are two types of treatments that are available over several weeks with well-being acupuncture.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) gives specific guidance and states that acupuncture should be referred to for the following complaints:
  • Allergies, Anxiety, Back pain, Carpel Tunnel Syndrome
  • Constipation, Headaches, Heart problems, Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Sciatica, Sports injuries, Stress, Tendonitis

Clinical studies indicate that acupuncture is also effective in treating:
  • Neck and facial pain, Lower back pain
  • Morning sickness, Urinary dysfunction

Our busy lifestyles can upset our systems in different ways, sometimes physically (e.g. migraines). sometimes emotionally (things get too much), or mentally. A person may experience anxiety, stomach discomforts, tightness in the upper back or shoulders, or lack energy and enthusiasm to name only a few symptoms. I see a number of people with back, knee or neck pain.

The First Session

A detailed account will be taken about yourself for an initial diagnosis and this will include observations of lifesyle, family history, diet, work, sleep, hobbies, your likes and dislikes and then your first acupuncture session will begin. The time for this is usually one and a half hours.

Subsequent Sessions

These are a progression of how you have been, so there is discussion and then acupuncture points are chosen for your specific needs. These sessions are usually 45 minutes.

Research and References.

There are many researches to common problems. The Acupuncture Research Council (www.ARRC) has detailed information.
NICE ( the government's health watchdog) has agreed that acupuncture relieves nausea, knee pain and low back pain.

General Questions

Yes, you do not need a doctor's referral. Your Doctor can be informed if you want them to know.

Yes, it does not interfere with general medicine.
