My specialist areas are fertility to help patients with various fertility problems such as unexplained fertility, stress related infertilitiy, IVF support, Miscarriages, Thrush-Candida Overgrowth, Food sensitivity/Intolerance and Menopause.

I am a member of British Acupncture Council, and the Zita West Fertility Network.

I also treat all ages and all types of health problems whether acute or chronic, physical or psychological and provide professional nutritional advice and acpuncture to wide range of health problems.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a complex branch of ancient Chinese Medicine, but its practical principles and methods are easily understood:

Fourteen major energy channels called meridians course through the human body including the head, arms, hands, legs, feet, torso and internal organs.

A subtle energy called Chi (pronounced chee) circulates via the meridians to all parts of the body, even the most remote cells. Chi is the vital force, the presence of which separates the living from the dead. Its balanced, unimpeded flow is critical to sound health. Any misdirection, blockage, or other derangement of the amount, flow, or balance of Chi may result in pain, dysfunction, and ill health.

With acupuncture needles, or other means, the acupuncturist stimulates certain points (acu-points) along the course of the meridians. Such stimulation helps restore the normal balance and flow of Chi so organs and bodily systems can work together in harmony as intended. This sets the stage for the body to repair itself and maintain its own health.

What are the three main objectives of Acupuncture treatment?

Relieve pain and other symptoms

Strengthen the immune system

Balance, harmonize, and integrate functions of the organs with each other, making for a unified healthy person, rather than a collection of fragmented disharmonious parts.

About Nutrition

Nutritional advice is based on the philosophy of maintaining a deep respect for nature, with a thorough understanding of science and body chemistry.

Our natural state is to be well and healthy – that is why the body is designed to heal itself and goes to extraordinary lengths to fight and resist disease. However, modern life can literally eat away at our defences and undermine our health. It is getting more and more difficult to get the critical nutrients we need from the food we eat. At the same time, each of us is unique, with different nutritional requirements. What is right for Paul is not necessarily right for Paula or Paulo or Paulette. The concept of Optimum Nutrition recognises these facts. It is as much about what we need to eat as what we shouldn'’t eat. It is about balancing our bodies, eating foods that are rich in essential nutrients and taking the right nutrients, where we need to redress the balance.

I offer a one-to-one consultation to the client of approximately one hour and a quarter, with follow-ups as appropriate. During the consultation a detailed assessment is made of the nutritional status, the health history, the current lifestyle, major stresses, and other factors which may be influencing the health. The patient may also be requested to undertake biochemical tests, if these are deemed necessary, to enhance the management of the condition.

I aim at my clinic to help my clients achieve full potential by designing a nutritional programme that is specifically tailored to their needs. One that is realistic and can fit into their lifestyle, taking into consideration the time they have available and diet around what they enjoy eating. I also provide menu's for breakfasts, lunches and evening meals for several days to make it easy as possible for the diet to put into practise.

The diet helps to rebalance the system as food is a powerful healer and the body has an amazing ability to repair itself. Sometimes the programme may involve excluding certain foods to assess certain food intolerances and allergies, which may be the cause of some of the symptoms. Some programmes also include a well-balanced supplement programme including advice about when to take them and how long to take them for.
