Welcome to A Clear Mind

Need a positive change, but procrastinating? The clock is ticking! Life’s too short not to enjoy and make the best of it.

Hypnotherapy helps!

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind. It’s like the trance of daydreaming, when awareness moves from the conscious level to an inner space where feelings and memories are stored. This subconscious area of the mind generates and holds thoughts, and manages the running of the body without conscious input.

Thoughts are inseparable from feelings.

Thoughts are chemical recipes generated by our bodies from the beginning of our lives. You will already be aware that various thoughts can make you feel happy, sad, anxious, romantic, etc. When we are children our authority figures tell and show us, that things are good for us or not. These adults will pass on to us a whole spectrum of their own thoughts and feelings, ranging from their creative passions to their prejudices and fears. They will also tell us all their impressions of us, good or bad. Therefore we grow up thinking/feeling that we are who they told us we are, and sometimes those thoughts can burden and challenge us for many, many years.

What is hypnotherapy?

Skilled therapists use both conversational and trance induced hypnosis to benefit the client.

However, people commonly think of Hypnotherapy as a process where-by the client is guided by a hypnotherapist into a trance state, to provide therapeutic support through suggestion and if necessary, regression. The trance state by-passes the analytical conscious mind. This allows the subconscious mind to process thoughts and feelings.

Hypnotherapy aims to guide clients into re-programming their negative behavioural and physiological patterns, such as:

  • irrational fears,

  • phobias,

  • low self-esteem,

  • suppressed emotions,

  • discomforts.

How does hypnotherapy work?

The success of hypnotherapy depends on both the client and therapist taking responsibility to do their best. The client does the ‘work’. The therapist uses hypnosis to guide the worker.

For example; A client may present with an ‘Empty Habit’ which is a pattern of behaviour that used to have a purpose that has lapsed, although the behaviour remains established. Smoking may have been started so that an individual would be accepted by their peer group. Years later that group has moved, or the individual has but the smoking habit remained. The individual realises now that in today’s society people who have positive self-esteem, value themselves and their health, have no interest in being a smoker or with mixing with smokers. However often conscious efforts to quit fail, because the subconscious is holding on to how important it was to belong to that group. Memories are thoughts and circulate chemicals in the body to reinforce what people feel about themselves. So lighting up touches on that deep memory even when its not consciously recognised. Hypnotherapy works by changing these perceptions and by replacing them with positive thoughts. Every person is unique, with their own skills and abilities, and is worth lots more than committing slow suicide by smoking umpteen ciggies daily just because of an empty habit.
