About Us

Caroline Ross-Harper, DSH RSHom

Caroline comes from a ‘medically orientated’ family, many of whom were doctors, allied professionals and nurses. It is not surprising that she started her career in the Health Service, initially as a medical secretary, and then as social work assistant. Following this she then trained as a teacher and assessor. It was during this time that she became quite anxious and depressed following several major life events, such loss of several close family members, separation and divorce.

Homeopathy was Caroline’s first choice for her health and emotional needs during this illness as she did not wish to take medication because of possible addictive qualities or side effects. She also wanted a system of medicine that gave her relief from her symptoms but also allowed her to process and become stronger as a result of the life events rather than suppress them.

Caroline found that homeopathy was of such benefit to her during this time of illness that she wished to have further understanding of it and be able to use it to assist others, so started her homeopathic training in 1996 in London. After primary qualification she continued frequent and continuous professional development, and is now a practitioner and supervisor. She is registered and licensed with the Society of Homeopaths.

Peter N Ralph, BSc (Honours) Psychology

Peter was a Merchant Navy Captain before coming ashore to start a Financial Planning Practice at the age of 32.

He soon began to pursue his interest in Psychology, concentrating on the Psychology of Parenting as well as Business Psychology, Interpersonal Relationships and Strategic Coaching, attending courses run by experts both from this country and in America.

In 1987 he employed his own Personal Development Coach and, with personal training, became a Coach in his own right a year or so later. He is able to give added benefit by integrating his Financial & Lifestyle Planning experience when coaching clients.

By the late 1990s Peter realised that coaching was one step up the ladder from counselling. He knew that there was a real need to help a significant number of people to overcome emotional and psychological problems before they could effectively benefit from the development and life skills coaching process.

Peter embarked on another journey of education and learning, becoming qualified and experienced in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Integrative Counselling and Psychology. He has a BSc (Honours) in Psychology, Certificates in Counselling and in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and teaches CBT and Counselling to trainee therapists at two Local Authority Adult Education Centre.

He is continuing his education programme, including a further Diploma in Coaching and is furthering his specialisation in anxiety disorders, particularly Social Anxiety Disorder.

Maura O'Sullivan, MA Int. Psychotherapy

Maura began her professional life as a Languages and Drama teacher. When asked if she would take on the role of College Counsellor, she trained as an Integrative Psychotherapist. (Minster Centre).

Her next step in her Professional career was to become a Counsellor trainer and to support this work she did training in groupwork(the Institute of Group Analysis ).

As her own search for meaning and self definition continued she trained in Existential Psychotherapy at the New School of Psychotherapy. Other trainings include The Transpersonal, Energy Psychology, Emotrance, Psychodrama, EFT, CBT and Supervision.

She believes that being a Therapist is a lifetime’s work. She is passionate about relationship, finding common ground between her own experiences and the experiences of her clients. Whilst the core of her work is humanistic she is aware of the importance of integrating a number of approaches in her way of being with clients.

She has 23 years of experience as a Therapist and as a human being 55 years

Janet Hiscock, C.Psychol.

Janet initially trained as a secretary and worked in a number of business settings prior to having a family but never felt fulfilled or inspired by work, it was simply a means to make a living.

After becoming chronically post-natally depressed after her first child was born, she decided to learn about mental health and took a course in Psychology, this led to a BSc Honours degree. Due to her own experiences during which time she was offered no support or counselling, only medication, she then went on to train at the Westminster Pastoral Foundation and finished qualifiying with a Masters in Counselling Psychology at Roehampton University.

She has since worked in a variety of settings, both privately and with the NHS, running groups and seeing people one-to-one, both as a supervisor and a psychotherapist. She finds her work enormously rewarding and has recently published a book, Beating Stress, Anxiety and Depression with Professor Jane Plant in the hope of reaching out and helping sufferers all over the country.
