SERVICES

Welcome to Time 2 Talk

Marcia Rowe, founder of Time-2-Talk © qualified as a Humanistic Counsellor in 2002 and an accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy & United Kingdom of Registered Counsellors (MBACP Accred & UKRC).

Over the past 15 years, her warm empathic approach enabled her to relate and work closely with children & young people; and counselling adults who were traumatised because they endured a variety of abuse . She found the whole experience therapeutic and liberating. It was her ‘time to talk’! Hence, Time-2-Talk was formed to allow other people a safe space to talk.

With the opportunity of applying an integrated approach at The Institute for Arts in Therapy and Education (I.A.T.E), helped clients to become more creative in the way they expressed their thoughts and feelings. Through continued exploration of the arts in psychotherapy, Time-2-Talk also offers a space for young people to tell their story about their difficulties with someone who has the time to listen without judging them.

Counselling

Counselling is a professional service offered to individuals who would like a neutral, caring and patient person to talk to in a comfortable, yet confidential and safe place. Counsellors are qualified and adhere to their registered body’s Code of Ethics and Good Practice. They can work with groups, couples or on a one-to-one basis.

The hardest thing to do is to ask for help. You can make the choice to start counselling when you feel ready. Find a suitable Counsellor who can offer you that space to talk openly about those fears or worries and start fulfilling your life again.

Creativity and The Arts

Time-2-Talk also offers a safe space for individuals to express themselves by using the arts materials available to them. There may be times when words cannot explain or capture the essence of a feeling, but with the aid of creativity, imagination and taking a risk, it may be possible. During this powerful and yet enlightening process, your counsellor will continue to offer all you need to support you through this moment to moment experience.

Integrative Counselling

Integrative counselling is a process for selecting concepts and methods from a variety of theories, and using them together constructively for the well being of the client. It focuses on recognising human capabilities in areas such as creativity, personal growth, development, change and awareness. In addition, it takes into account the body, mind and spiritual aspect of a person in a moment-to-moment experience.

The Counsellor offers total regard, understanding, honesty, warmth and genuineness to their client; allowing them to explore their issues at their own pace without the judgement or interpretation of the Counsellor.

Initial assessment

Prior to any commencement of counselling, an initial assessment interview with the client is essential. This will last 1 hour and 30 minutes and will:
  • Enable the client to get a feel for what counselling involves and how it may help them. It will also enable the client to ask any questions or raise any concerns they may have before making such a commitment.
  • Provide a time to discuss the practicalities of counselling by looking at times, cancellations, fees, confidentiality and the general rules that both client and counsellor must abide by.
  • Enable the counsellor to make an assessment of the client's presenting problems and difficulties and decide with the client the goals of counselling and areas to be worked on in future sessions.
  • Ascertain the suitability of any client for either long-term or short-term counselling. People suffering with more serious mental health problems such as eating disorders or severe depression are more suitable for long-term counselling.

More importantly, this initial session is designed for you to make an assessment of the counsellor and to decide if you can work with them.

Attending an initial assessment does not mean that you are obliged to continue on to counselling sessions.

If you feel at all uncomfortable about the counsellor then it may be worth looking around until you have found a counsellor you are genuinely happy with. To book an Initial Assessment please contact me by phone or email. You can also write to me for an appointment.
