The Technique helps people across the world to naturally overcome:

Alexander Lessons quieten and calm the nervous system, teaching the pupil how to manage life's demands and upsets, and achieve clarity, freedom and poise in everyday life. The Technique promotes self-healing for mind and body, and is an essential lifestyle education in today's urban environment.

How will the technique work?

The technique works by helping you to identify and prevent the harmful postural habits that may be the cause of stress and pain. It tackles the source of the problem rather than just treating the symptoms.

You will learn to release tension and rediscover balance of mind and body.

With an increased awareness you can:
  • Be poised, without stiffness
  • Move gracefully, with less effort
  • Be alert and focused, with less strain
  • Breathe and speak more easily
  • Be calm and confident
  • Restore your natural health, poise and vitality

Alexander Lessons

A course of Alexander lessons can change your life, by changing your posture.

Even a single lesson can provide a truly profound experience leading to increased awareness in the way you think, move, and react. Your step will feel lighter, your spine lengthened, and all that your teacher will have done is rightfully restore a co-ordination that was always yours to begin with.

The Technique will help you to learn how to use your body with more ease and less tension in simple movements - such as sitting, standing, walking, bending, and lifting. It can also be applied to hobbies, sports, performance and computer use.

Part of the lesson may include you lying down in the classic Alexander Technique semi-supine position - allowing maximum support and relief for the back.

After your initial lesson, you can discuss with your teacher how many lessons will best suit your needs.

The cost of an Alexander lesson in London can vary and is usually based on the location and level of experience of the teacher.

About Giselle J. Malawer

She began taking Alexander technique lessons in 1995 to address increasing low back, hip and knee joint pain during sports activities.

After several lessons, it became apparent that this was to be her new profession.

Giselle studied under Meir Amit In Tel Aviv from 1995-1998. During her training she noticed that she had stopped grinding her teeth whilst sleeping and that she no longer suffered from migraine headaches. Upon completion of her training she realized she was a remarkable inch taller.

Filled with plenty of enthusiasm, Giselle built up a successful Alexander Practice in Tel Aviv.

After returning to the UK in 2001 she set up an Alexander Studio in North London for personal clients.

Giselle has worked in a number of companies to introduce AT into the workplace. Previous clients include: Harrods, M&S, Music Alliance, The Wyndham Centre, The Job Centre, and 2Simple Software. She gives master classes to physiotherapists, personal trainers, and pilates teachers, as well as group introductory courses in health clubs.

For continued professional development she visits Alexander Teacher Training Schools to work with the students and attends international Alexander Congresses with world renowned teachers.

She recently completed a two day foundation course in NLP at the New Oceans Academy and attends personal development seminars.

Giselle is a Member of the Society of Teachers of the Alexander Technique (MSTAT) and has been teaching for over 11 years.
