Simon Farrar Personal Trainer

I am based in Cottingham and have been a successful Personal Trainer for the past 8 years. In that time I have worked with many different clients and helped them to achieve a wide variety of goals including: losing more weight than they ever thought was possible; climbing Mount Everest; running the London Marathon; dropping three dress sizes in a few months; losing weight to fit into a wedding dress; getting back into shape after having twins; fitting into a pair of trousers that they wore twenty years ago! These people were not unusual or any different to you – they just decided they wanted to change and picked up the phone to call me.

Everybody is unique - from the way our body reacts to different forms of exercise and nutrition to the type of changes we'd like to see in our health, appearance and lifestyle.

However, we also tend to be within the boundaries of one or more general categories of health and fitness. Psychologically it helps us if we have a clear mission in terms of a start and end point, a strategy, goals and what we can expect to achieve within that timescale.
Choosing the optimum combination of the various components of health and fitness can be a daunting task when you consider the various aspects involved:
  • General conditioning
  • Basic nutrition and weight management strategies
  • Muscular endurance
  • Toning
  • Muscular hypertrophy
  • Neuromuscular strength
  • Balance, coordination and proprioception
  • Mobility, agility and core stability
  • Aerobic conditioning
  • Anaerobic conditioning
  • SMR and PNF flexibility techniques and postural correction
For these reasons I've classified my services into a number of convenient packages outlined within the menu to the left. Each package forms a framework which is tailored to your own specific needs and requirements.
All these packages include 2 starter sessions for new clients comprising a Physical Activity Readiness Consultation and a Personal Profile assessment.

Alternatively I can design a series of programs on an individual session-by-session basis. The initial consultation will enable us to decide exactly what is perfect for you.
Sessions are usually carried out at my fully-equipped private gym. Alternatively, home visits can be arranged for clients, depending on location. Contact me for further details


QUALIFICATION DETAILS

Advanced Instructor, Level 3 (Register of Exercise Professionals) Fully qualified gym instructor, special populations include: ante/post natal, older adult, sports specific, weight control. Personal Trainer, FTA (Premier Training International) Anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, nutrition and weight management, energy systems, health and safety considerations, resistance training program design, functional flexibility, core stability, special populations (fitness related to: smoking, alcohol, hypertension, diabetes, osteoporosis, asthma, obesity and pregnancy), fitness assessment. First Aider (4-day First Aid at Work course) In addition to the above qualifications I have almost twenty years of experience in weight training and general health and fitness. I am also a member of the National Register of Personal Trainers.
