About Rosalind Murdoch

I studied acupuncture at a post- graduate level and I am an advanced member of the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP). As a Chartered physiotherapist I am in the unique position of being able to combine acupuncture with other treatment methods, such as manual and electrotherapy, exercise and relaxation techniques. With a combination of these skills and treatments my objective is to provide an holistic approach in the treatment provided.

Physiotherapy

The Technical Explanation

Physiotherapy promotes the body's own natural healing, resulting in pain relief and a return to normal function, or the maximum potential and quality of life where chronic disease or injury is present.

Physiotherapy relies on accurate and detailed clinical assessment and diagnosis, skilled treatment techniques and appropriate advice and exercises. a complete package of care that is tailor made with you and for you as an individual.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is one of the oldest forms of medicine, originating in China over 3000 years ago. The traditional Chinese view is that Qi or energy is free flowing in a healthy body but if there is problem energy stagnates. The stimulation of acupuncture points along the meridians or channels frees this stagnation.

What are the benefits?

There are other theories why acupuncture can be of benefit. Trigger points located in the soft tissues may become active and refer pain to different areas of the body. It has been suggested that needling may sedate these active points and clear pain.

Research has shown that acupuncture stimulates the brain to release natural pain killing hormones called endorphins. These chemicals assist the body in its healing process as well as providing pain relief in 70% of people treated with Acupuncture
