Welcome to Gabriela Slater

Gabriela’s interest in nutrition started in her teenage years when she wanted to know more about food and its effects on the body and health and has continued ever since. This guided her towards her degree in Human Nutrition and after that a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy. Early in her nutritional training Gabriela was diagnosed with health problems, she put her nutritional knowledge to use on herself and the results cemented her belief in Nutritional Therapy.

Gabriela’s goal is to educate her patients on making the right food choices and to help them achieve maximum health and wellbeing.

Gabriela has a Diploma in Nutritional Therapy obtained from the UK College of Health and Nutrition. The training provided by this college is extensive and is the gold standard in Nutritional Therapy. She also has a Masters Degree in the field of Human Nutrition and Food Technology.

Nutritional Therapy

Being healthy is a challenge for everybody. Today’s western diet relay heavily on ready-made foods, overcooked meals, quick snacks and consist of large amounts of fat, salt and sugar. Modern diets often lack nutritious meals, organic products and as a consequence of poor diet, symptoms may manifest themselves and if left untreated a diseased state may follow.

How does Nutritional Therapy work?

Food that we eat can have effects on numerous aspects of our health such as mood, energy levels and digestive discomfort. Food is essential for our health, as it is needed for the building blocks of the body such as the formation of our hormones, enzymes, blood, antibodies and neurotransmitters.

Nutritional Therapy provides you with the latest scientific research evidence to help you adapt your diet and lifestyle to support optimum health. Nutritional Therapy is not only about understanding the basics of healthy eating, it is also about understanding that foods that are good for one person may not be suitable for another and many contribute to many unpleasant symptoms.

What happens when you visit a Nutritional Therapist?

Many books have been written about diets and how by following a particular diet someone has conquered their own health problems. However we are all different and unique with slightly differing genetic makeup, likes, dislikes, health issues, eating habits. As you may expect what works for one person may not work for another.

It is for this reason that a Nutritional Therapist treats everyone as an individual and examines their diet to:
  • Assess the current intake of carbohydrates
  • Assess the current intake of proteins
  • Assess the current intake of fats
  • Identify biochemical imbalances including vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
With the dietary information a Nutritional Therapist is able to make recommendations to help eliminate bad eating habits and optimize intake of nutrients.
