About Kelly Hainsworth

I am a qualified Reflexology Practitioner and Thermo-Auricular Therapist (Hopi Ear Candles) offering treatments from the village of Swannington in Leicestershire.

I hold an International Institute of Reflexology (IIR) Diploma - the only organisation in the UK to teach the original Ingham Method of reflexology and is the only internationally-recognised course.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and am a member of the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners.

Reflexology

Reflexology can be traced back to 2330 BC in ancient Egypt and also in India and China. Reflexology as we know it today is attributed to the work of Eunice Ingham, an American therapist who mapped reflex points on the feet and hands corresponding to all organs, glands and parts of the body.

For example, the toes represent the head and the ball of the foot represents the chest and lung area. Reflexology is a complementary therapy and is recognised by the NHS, many GPs and hospices.

It is a unique method, which applies pressure to the reflex points on the hands and/or feet using the thumbs and fingers. By applying pressure to these reflex points, blood circulation is improved, the body relaxes and organs and glands become balanced.

Reflexology is not a foot massage or a beauty therapy. It is a clinical treatment.

It helps to maintain and restore health and is a safe, natural therapy that is used to help people of all ages - from babies to the elderly, from pregnant women to those undergoing chemotherapy.

Reflexology has been known to provide relaxation to the terminally ill. However, you do not need to have a condition to enjoy reflexology as it provides a wonderful way to de-stress, relax and unwind.

Hopi Ear (Thermo-Auricular Therapy)

Thermo-Auricular Therapy is the use of Hopi Ear candles to relieve ear, sinus, nose, throat and head problems as well as to stimulate the lymph system and the metabolism of the body.

Although there is evidence that many ancient civilisations used ear candle treatments it was mainly through the Hopi Indians of North Arizona that the treatment became more widely known. Hopi means "people of peace”.
