About Kate

I am 32 years old and mother of one. I am a qualified Counsellor and have vast experience of working in the Mental Health Field for over 10 years. I am currently mentoring young people, teaching Yoga and looking after my little boy.

I qualified as a Yoga Teacher in November 2007 with the Indian Institute of Yoga, Chennai, India. My teacher was Dr Hema who is a GP who regularly prescribes Yoga treatments to her patients. The focus of the teacher training was on Yoga for Health and I bring this awareness to my personal and professional practice.

I am a firm believer in the body being able to heal itself with the right coaching. I have been practicing yoga since 2000 and I bring a plethora of experience from my time as a student. I have had a variety of Yoga teachers over the years from various traditions and nations. I use my experience as a student when I teach, therefore I consider my teaching as eclectic and diverse.

I attempt to meditate regularly amongst the demands of a busy family life (!) and I bring my practice of mindfulness to classes, for example, I begin each class with some mindful breathing. I am part of the Bristol Sangha (buddhist meditation group) and I facilitate meetings once a month in Redland, Bristol. Our teacher is the revered Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh who lives in Plum Village, France.

QUALIFICATION DETAILS
Teacher Training completed Nov 2007 at Indian Institue of Yoga, Chennai.
