SERVICES

Welcome to Derbyshire Pilates

Bridgette Bradley has been developing Derbyshire Pilates since 1999. She has a Masters degree in Occupational Psychology and is a graduate member of the British Psychological Society, with a special interest in the Sports and Exercise division.

Her expertise in ergonomics centres around the relationship between people and the physical and psychological demands of their working environment.

Over the years Bridgette has developed an holistic approach to her work, combining her knowledge in physiological psychology with the Pilates method to design rehabilitation programmes.

Her determination to provide individuals with a comprehensive assessment strategy, has led her to draw from recent research on stability performance assessment techniques such as the ’Pilates Matrix‘ assessment and training for low load motor control stability problems and corrective training techniques.

Combining already established applied principles of analysis allows for a rigorous assessment process. The system of assessment highlights low and high load ‘weak links’ in stability and movement dysfunction. This process then guides a specific retraining programme to improve stability, strength and body alignment.

Postural Rehabilitation

Consultation and Assessment Process

In order to retrain the body, Bridgette uses a range of rigorous assessment tools to provide a base line for her to work from in designing your prescriptive programme. On your initial visit she will analyse your posture and assess how your posture is influencing the way you move, which may exacerbate any problems you are experiencing. Specific tests will be used to highlight those areas of altered flexibility, instability and loss of normal movement patterns. Tests will look for both low and high load motor control problems relating to stability and performance. Notes from other health professionals involved with the rehabilitation process will also be discussed if necessary.

What will Pilates Personal rehabilitation training do for you?

Through gentle exercises that encourage co-activation of the local and global muscles responsible for stability and functional movement patterns, you will learn how to improve your posture, kinaesthetic awareness (movement sense) and improve normal every day functioning and your sport performance. This will help to reduce the risk of injury and regain correct movement patterns.

Rehabilitation courses

Initial consultation is for approx 1½ hours and includes health screening, postural analysis, stability performance assessments and introduction to the Pilates method.

Courses are for 6, 8 or 10 sessions and last for 1 hour.
Session times are flexible and run from Monday through to Saturday mornings. Bookings are by appointment please.

All sessions are strictly private and confidential and conducted in a light and airy studio in Allestree, Derby.
