SERVICES

Bett Partridge

I come from a family of practising herbalists and have practised herbalism from an early age. Although I have an extensive knowledge of herbs from all over the world, I prefer to use mainly herbs which are local to the patients I treat, as I believe that they have a 'symbiosis' with their own environment.

I qualified as a medical herbalist (Diploma in Botano Therapy) with the International Register of Consultant Herbalists and Homeopaths in Swansea. This five year training included a comprehensive study of Diet & Nutrition, and also Naturopathy.

I am a member of the Unified Register of Herbal Practitioners, which is accredited by the European Herbal Practitioners Association, and all members have to conform to their strict code of ethics. I am also a member of the British Herbal Medicine Association and the Natural Medicines Society.

My study and practice of Hatha Yoga enables me to offer remedial techniques to patients for relaxation-breathing and simple structural problems (stiff neck, joints etc) as well as Reflexology and, Iridology diagnosis (examination of the iris).

Patients can be assured of a truly holistic treatment based on my extensive knowledge and experience.

About Your Treatment

The first consultation (£45) will take approximately 1 hour to an hour and a half, when your detailed case history will be analysed, using the same diagnostic techniques as your General Practitioner, as well as iridology (examination of the iris). Lifestyle, exercise, diet and any medicines being taken will be thoroughly examined in strictest confidence, and advice given on these aspects as appropriate.

Subsequent Consultations (from £15) will depend on your condition. You may only need a half-hour follow-up on one or two occasions, or a more on-going programme of therapy for chronic conditions. Herbal medicines will be prescribed at reasonable rates.

Many NHS GPs are now sympathetic towards herbal medicine, and it is becoming common for practitioners of both disciplines to work together.

Patients can also be referred to specialist units in the Somerset area if necessary.

Please ask if you need a free 10 minute preliminary discussion.

About Herbal Medicine

Herbal Medicine is an ancient method of healing with the use of whole herbs, which contain many supportive nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, hormones, enzymes and trace elements, thus offering a truly holistic approach to improved health and well-being.

Nearly half of pharmaceutical drugs currently being produced are of plant origin, but their chemical compounds are used in isolation and even synthesised, without the gentle and moderating effects of the supportive nutrients mentioned above. This often leads to many side effects. Herbalists aim to treat the whole person and the root cause of their complaint, not just the symptoms.

We herbalists call our therapy Traditional because of centuries of experience and practice (but is constantly being updated to suit 21st century conditions). There are other labels such as Alternative- because it is often used as an effective treatment where others have failed, Complementary - because it is often used alongside orthodox medicine, and Holistic because we treat the whole person - not just their symptoms. During a consultation, not only your physical side, but the emotional, psychical and spiritual aspects of your being will be considered in order to find the cause of your dis-ease and enable the body to heal itself.

Nutritional Therapy is an essential part of every consultation. Simple adjustments to the diet can produce very positive results and maybe all that is necessary to achieve well-being.

Together with the correct supplements for your particular needs and a blend of herbs unique to each person, long lasting healing can take place in the hands of a trained practitioner.

Everything is confidential, so you can literally 'let your hair down!' and in this way both therapist and patient can work together to achieve lasting health.
