Welcome to Regain Control

Regaining Control of our Lives

Sometimes we can`t help feeling out of control. Somehow a combination of events, experiences, feelings and perceptions can all conspire to make us feel stressed, depressed, messed up! And as a consequence we react inappropriately, even badly to things that have to be dealt with. We get angry with each other. We blame each other. We eat or drink too much. Or both. That`s when Cognitive Psychotherapy can help us help ourselves. We have to regain control on our own. Nobody can do that for us. But we can get help in thinking clearly and positively, to identify the causes of our problems, so that we deal with these, instead of being preoccupied with the effects.

That`s my business. To help you manage the clouds in your life. And let in some sunshine. You should give it a shot. You might just surprise yourself...

Working with Rhiannon

On my ‘Contact’ page, you’ll find an Information Box, with a link to my email address. Its purpose is to enable you to say in a few words why you think talking to someone like me might help.

e.g. ‘I feel a bit low because….(then try to say what’s on your mind)

Don’t worry if you sound a bit clumsy, or can’t find all the right words, because all we’re doing is identifying something to go on. A handle for our first discussion, which if you like, can be on the ‘phone.

When we meet, I’ll invite you to tell me as much as you feel comfortable with saying. Why you feel ‘low’ or distressed. Worried or angry, and what you think may be causing it.

I will understand. Remember, I may even have ‘been there’ myself!

But my job is to test all those assumptions and perceptions, help you focus on the facts and the realities, and get your thinking clear. It never helps when people are confusing ‘effect’ with ‘cause’.

Once we’ve done all that, we can start to map out a course of action, starting with a few easy steps, but moving onwards and upwards, always focusing on you, what you need to do, and what you’re capable of doing.
