We're in the throws of Summer! The solstice has come and gone and the sun has started heading south again. Its a good time for taking stock and reflecting on the past six months. It is now the perfect weather to do some fasting and detoxing! Who wants to eat when its so hot anyway!
In this heat one of the best things to eat is watermelon; its very cooling and will reduces symptoms of sun stroke, heat rash and irritability. A few years ago there was almost a riot in Beijing because there weren't enough watermelons when there was a power cut and no fans or air conditioning!
The garden is abundant with vibrant flowers in every colour, their sweet scents are intoxicating. In traditional Greek medicine the scent of roses are used to clear melancholy (depression) and uplift ones spirit. I have just had an article published in Kindred Spirit Magazine on the Four Temperaments if you want to know more about this ancient medical system.
I have done a lecture on the Four Temperaments at the Mind Body Spirit festival last month, and am looking forward to Herb Fest in which i will be lecturing about Chinese Face Reading and Greek Medicine in the beginning of August. We still have some places left on the two day Four Temperament workshop in London.
We are really looking forward to our first ever juice retreat next week, which is now fully booked! If you are interested in coming in September for another intensive retreat you should contact us quickly as spaces are rapidly going!
