HYPNOTHERAPY

Hypnosis can be described as 'being in a state of awareness dominated by the subconscious mind'. This is not as strange as it might sound; everybody enters a trance state several times a day, quite easily and naturally. Think about that lovely fuzzy feeling you have just before you fall asleep at night and when you wake up in the morning. That's a form of trance. Do you daydream or lose track of time when you are carrying out some task or other? If so, you are in a form of trance. And how often have you driven somewhere without noticing how you got there? That, too, is a form of trance. When you are in a hypnotic trance the conscious mind, which is the logical, critical part of the mind, is 'switched off', allowing the subconscious to take over. In this subconscious state of awareness, there is increased concentration of the mind and increased relaxation of the entire body. There is also an increased susceptibility to positive suggestions, and during a hypnotherapy session this is used therapeutically to help you achieve your goals.

What conditions can be helped by hypnotherapy?
