About Dolina Clark
I qualified as a radiographer and have held senior posts in the National Health Service and also in the Private Sector.

I qualified as a radiographer and have held senior posts in the National Health Service and also in the Private Sector.

Since early days, I have always been interested in how the mind can assist with the healing process and to that end, I continued with my studies and in 1993, qualified in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Hypnoanalysis.

I am a Member of The General Hypnotherapy Register (GHR) which is the Administrating Agency for The General Hypnotherapy Standards Council representing 120 Professional Bodies and Training Schools. All members have to abide by a very strict set of ethics. I am SQHP validated practitioner GHSC. I have attended Master Classes on Habits Dependency and Addiction, Weight Loss and the Smoking Cessation Mastery Seminar for individual and corporate clients. I have also completed advanced Alcohol Training in March 2009.

I hold the C.O.S.C.A Certificate in Counselling skills.

My experience of trauma working alongside Accident and Emergency Departments in hospitals has uniquely qualified me to understand and assist with all manner of problems and crises.

I have completed the advanced “Fertility through Hypnosis” training with Sjanie Hugo , Clinical Hypnotherapist and Specialist in Fertility and Child Birthing, in Glasgow in June/July 2007.

Trying to describe oneself objectively is very difficult so I asked several of my clients to say how I appeared to them.

"Dolina is a very sincere professional person who listens and tries to help her clients if at all possible. Her voice is very calming and clients feel at ease in her company. She has many regular clients who come back time and again because whether it is massage, hypnotherapy or reiki, always works to the highest standard."

"Dolina Clark is a truly special and gifted individual who has a natural talent for healing. I have found her support, through bereavement and while starting up my own business, to be incalculable. She enabled me to remain calm and relaxed through major dental surgery. I have recommended her to many people who have all been grateful to know her and I will continue to do so."

Aromatherapy
Aromatherapy is hugely popular nowadays and scientific research has shown it to be very effective for stress related conditions, insomnia and emotional problems. Yet again we are not pioneers in this field as our ancestors in ancient times, principally in Egypt and the Far East, discovered the therapeutic use of the essential oils. The 1930’s saw a revival with a further boost of popularity in the 1960’s.

Where do these essential oils come from? They are extracted from flowers, fruits, leaves, stems and from the roots of trees, shrubs and flowers. A variety of processes are used to extract the oils but the most widely used is the steam distillation process although some are best obtained by squeezing the oil from the peel, or by immersing the plant in hot oil to release the essence. In some cases, pressing the flowers between glass plates is still used.

To obtain the benefit of the oils, they have to be absorbed by the body either by inhalation or skin massage. They work in slightly different ways. The inhaled odour stimulates the olfactory centres in the nose and quickly passes to particular parts of the brain. Oils, which are massaged into the skin, pass into the blood stream and so influence the central nervous function, mental function and emotions.

The therapeutic oils are highly concentrated and are only used sparingly.

Massage is an important part of an aromatherapy treatment combined with the beneficial properties of essential oils blended in a vegetable based carrier oil. It relaxes and revitalises a tired body, lifts depression and helps the body to heal. It promotes well being of body, mind and spirit.

Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a form of induced relaxation in which the subconscious part of the mind is more open to suggestion. Once this is achieved, changes in long standing thoughts, feelings and behaviour may then become possible.

For maximum benefit, a trusting relationship between client and therapist has to be built.

Hypnotherapy has been widely researched and proved successful in the treatment of many conditions including anxiety, phobias, addictions, weight problems, pain, insomnia, high blood pressure

The most common method used today is where the practitioner talks the person into a deeply relaxed state and then implants benign suggestions which can be easily assimilated and retained. All the while the client remains in total control of his/her facilities. Typically, there are four stages to this induction.
  1. Relaxation
  2. Deepening the relaxation
  3. Application of the “suggestions”
  4. Formal ending and return to full mental alertness.
The therapist cannot dictate or instruct the client on how to change but can only help guide the client to his/her own resolution based on what they seek to achieve for themselves.

This is why it is so important to find a hypnotherapist who will use their experience, understanding of the problem, encouragement, empathy and support to bring about the desired change.

There are two types of Hypnotherapy

(a) Suggestion Therapy
(b) Analytical Therapy

Here are just some of the ailments that can be successively resolved with hypnotherapy:
  • Alcohol Problems

Hypnosis & Infertiliy
The HFEA (Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority) estimates that one in seven UK couples have difficulty conceiving. A quarter are diagnosed with unexplained infertility. Hypnotherapy can help reclaim natural functioning conception and give birth to a baby.

Hypnosis affects the hypothalamus of the brain which is sensitive to stress and acts as a bridge between the emotional and the physical turning emotional messages into physical responses that affect hormone levels. Your emotions and beliefs affect your body.

Hypnotherapy on its own

Hypnotherapy is a safe natural self healing method Simple hypnotherapy assists by increasing self control and ability to cope. Clients take better control of their bodies and anxiety release. The technique of self hypnosis induces a deep relaxation. Clients begin to believe in themselves again and to prepare mentally for a pregnancy, birth and ultimately parenthood. This applies equally to the male partner.

Hypnotherapy to assist/support IVF

This is a staged treatment.

Prior to the start of the IVF treatment, the client would be trained in self hypnosis techniques and visualisation processes. At the second stage, Ovarian Stimulation, hypnotherapy will help and increase the effectiveness of the drugs and the benefits of the visualisation exercises will increase the supply of healthy eggs.

Hypnotherapy and Egg Collection

Hypnotherapy will aid recovery from egg collection and “seeing” the eggs being fertilised and growing prior to insertion in a welcoming and prepared uterus.

Hypnotherapy and Embryo Transfer

Here, hypnotherapy will increase the chances of implantation. It can also help in its uniting and bonding with the growing baby connection and relationship between mother and baby. Hypnotherapy will assist with the calm and relaxation so necessary at this very important stage of the process.

Success

It has to be said that there are no guarantees that Hypnotherapy is a magical process and a short cut to pregnancy but undoubtedly it does help the chances of success. More importantly, once conception has occurred, it will help the sustainability of the pregnancy and help prepare for the birth.

Reflexology
Reflexology is a natural holistic therapy and helps to reduce stress by inducing deep relaxation.

It helps to restore hormonal balance and sleep patterns. It assists in boosting energy and the immune system. It also improves circulation and helps clear the system of impurities and toxins.

Reflexology works by using the pressure points on the hands and feet to stimulate the healing powers of the body. It is not new since it has been used widely in India and China for the past 4000 years.

There are ten invisible reflex zones passing down the body from the top of your head to the end of your toes, with all the organs and parts of the body lying in one or more of the zones. The reflex points on the feet and on the hands reflect all the organs and structure of the body which is why reflexology can help a wide range of problems. The aim of the massage is to clear the energy channels that have become blocked and are causing problems. Once cleared, energy can flow freely and the body can heal.

Reiki
Reiki is a form of healing using “universal life energy” an energy which animates us all and is found all around us. Reiki helps to harmonize mind, body and spirit.

It is a hands-on healing technique and is based on a specific energy attunement using life energy channelled through the practitioner to the part of the recipient’s body where it is most needed. It can be used for physical, mental or emotional healing

During the Reiki treatment, you relax, fully clothed, on a couch or seated, while the healer hold his/her hands on or above the client.

There is no pressure on the body which makes it ideal for all ages and conditions. The energy flows where it is required and can normally be felt as a warm sensation or tingling in the body. The treatment can last an hour or more.

Reiki can be used to reduce stress, relieve pain, headaches, anxiety, PMT, strengthen the immune system, clear toxins, release blocked and suppressed feelings.

Reiki should never be used instead of medical treatment. It should be used as a compliment and a way to become and remain healthy.

Thought Field Therapy
Thought Field Therapy (TFT) is a relatively new technique for the rapid elimination of most types of emotional distress. It has an extremely high rate of success when used to treat emotional stressors including phobias, anxiety, general stress, obsession/compulsion and addiction.

TFT was invented and developed by Roger Callahan, one of America's most experienced clinical psychologists. He used conventional therapies like behaviour therapy for 30 years but was dissatisfied with the results and became interested in an alternative therapy called Applied Kinesiology (AK) which addresses the body's meridian system to correct disorders.

In 1979 he was treating a patient called Mary who had a water phobia. After 18 months of treatment, including hypnosis and behaviour therapy, Mary hadn't improved. He knew Mary described her fear as being felt in the stomach and he knew that the stomach meridian passed beneath both eyes. As Mary thought of her fear, he tapped beneath one of her eyes and the phobia vanished and stayed away to this day, more than 25 years later.

Callahan repeated this technique with other sufferers and found that it only worked in a minority of patients. However, years of research, experimentation and further development followed producing what we now know as Thought Field Therapy.

Thought Field Therapy is based on a new theory about the cause of negative emotion. Conventional medicine assumes that the mind and brain are in the purely physical realm and that emotional problems like depression and anxiety are caused by chemical abnormalities in the brain which can only be corrected by drugs or surgery. For decades there has been the alternative view that the mind and the physical brain are separate. Along with many others, Dr Callahan contends that the mind is more linked to field effects generated whenever a thought is triggered. According to his theory, when we think of a problem, we tune into a part of this field effect referred to as a Thought Field. Dr Callahan believes negative emotions are caused by precise information patterns in Thought Fields which he terms "perturbations". By tapping on the correct meridian points in the right sequence, the perturbations are inactivated and the negative emotion disappears.
