My name is Sam and I have been massaging people and horses since 2003. I am qualified in sports massage, aromatherapy massage, body massage, Indian head massage and ultrasound therapy.

I have found being qualified in different types of massage very useful as I can adapt each treatment to suit the individual client.

I am based at Checkendon Equestrian Centre near Reading, where I have a treatment room which is fully equipped for massage. I am able to offer a mobile service as well if you prefer. Please ask for more details.

I am also qualified in equine sports massage and will travel to the horses.

Day, evening and weekend appointments are available.

Please contact me for more information.

SERVICES

Massage is a recognised complementary therapy. It is used for stress relief, relieving aches and pains, and for relaxation. Sports massage, ultrasound therapy, body massage, aromatherapy massage, indian head massage and equine massage are available.

Sports massage is a deep massage used to reduce muscle tension, increase range of movement and help prevent muscle spasm. It is excellent for relieving lower back pain, shoulder and neck tension, muscle cramp in the legs and many other muscular related problems. The pressure is adapted to suit each client and most clients feel a lot better after one or two massages.

Ultrasound therapy can be used to treat tendon and ligament injuries, it can also be used during a sports massage if there are areas that are very sore to touch. It uses soundwaves and you cannot feel anything during the treatment. It increases the circulation to the area and reduces inflammation. It is excellent for treating conditions such as tennis or golfers elbow where there is increased tension and inflammation in the muscles, tendons and ligaments around the joint.

Body massage is a relaxing massage that can help reduce muscle tension. A half hour massage could include the back, neck and shoulders. A full body massage would take an hour and can include the legs and arms as well as the back, neck and shoulders.

Aromatherapy massage is a very relaxing massage using essential oils blended in grapeseed oil or almond oil. The essential oils can help reduce stress, depression, insomnia as well as many other physical and emotional symptoms.

Indian head massage is done whilst the client is seated and fully clothed. It includes the shoulders, neck, scalp and face. No oil is used. It can help reduce neck and shoulder tension and is very relaxing.

Equine massage involves having your horse massaged from head to tail. Any changes in temperature, texture and tension in the muscles is identified. Muscle tension can be reduced through massage.

Signs that your horse may have increased muscle tension include change in behaviour, short/uneven stride length, bucking/rearing, cold backed when tacking up/mounting and reluctance to work correctly. Horse owners will receive a report after their horse has been massaged and recommended exercises are given.
