SERVICES
Zen Shiatsu, Acupressure and Oriental Diagnosis
With Alan Warr MSc Dip Shiatsu Dip Yoga

Alan is a Master of Science and has been practicing Yoga & bodywork for 20 years. The Buddhist concept of Compassionate Meditation informs his unique approach to Oriental Diagnosis and Zen Shiatsu.

Alan uses several Zen diagnostics –listening, looking and palpation - to determine the health of the body’s vital systems and the techniques of Acupressure, Joint Mobilisation and Meridian Stretching aid the body to tone, re-balance and revitalise.

Common syndromes which may respond to Shiatsu include: headaches, stiff neck and shoulders, backaches, coughs, colds, menstrual problems, respiratory illness, asthma and bronchitis, sinus trouble and catarrh, insomnia, tension, anxiety and depression, fatigue, digestive disorders and bowel trouble, circulatory problems, rheumatic and arthritic complaints, sciatica and conditions following sprains and injuries. Specialized Reproductive Meridians are worked during treatment in cases of sub- fertility.

He has studied yoga all over the world and embraced several traditions – Ashtanga in India and Sivananda in California. His practice is based in the Spiritual Centre of Glastonbury, UK, where he has taught both Pregnancy and Power Yoga. He has also run a Sports Injury Clinic and is a member of the Shiatsu Society’s Olympic Committee

Zen Shiatsu 1hour £40

Diagnostic palpation of the Hara (abdomen) identifies kyo (empty) areas of the body’s vital energy (Ki) and tonifies them using acupressure. A supportive and relaxing series of movements are also used for restoration, based on the breath. Each treatment is unique and tailored to client’s needs. A session of Zen Shiatsu provides an experience of Homeostasis and revitalisation.

Zen Shiatsu
A relaxing, restorative treatment which is beneficial to health. Sessions take place at floor level on a futon with the client wearing light, loose clothing.

In each session the shiatsu practitioner may use the following 3 techniques:

1 - relaxed perpendicular pressure to key points and areas in the body.

2 - gentle stretching of the limbs to stimulate the energy pathways (meridians).

    3 - mobilisation of joints.

Benefits:

Regular sessions help to prevent the build up of stress in our daily lives and are deeply relaxing.
A course of treatments will give profound benefits such as:
  • improvement of breathing
  • better posture
  • improved circulation
  • easing of tensions and stiffness
  • well being and relaxation
  • restoring and balancing energy
