SERVICES

Welcome to Chichester Counselling Services

We offer counselling services for surrounding areas of West Sussex and Hampshire. We are situated in Little London, Chichester. We are a registered charity offering counselling services to everyone over the age of 18. Our service is based upon a belief in the individual and, accordingly, heavy emphasis is placed on client autonomy and his or her dignity and worth as a human being, irrespective of the ability to contribute to costs, social status, ethnic origins, religion, spiritual beliefs, sexual orientation or circumstances.

Thinking about counselling?

We offer counselling therapy ('psychodynamic') - which, as a very basic description, tells how the counsellor & client work together in an alliance to gain a deeper & more helpful understanding of how past events & experiences in the client's life (sometimes as far back as infanthood) influence the client's current life... an aim of this is to assist the client in achieving a better quality of life for themselves by resolving past emotional conflicts and difficulties.

Our counselling services for an individual may either be time limited (a set number of sessions usually up to twelve) or open ended (the counselling continues for as long as you and your counsellor agree is necessary). We offer variable cost counselling, which is accessible to all, but we also have a fixed-fee scheme, which offers a more rapid uptake. The benefits of each can be discussed with you when you come to your first meeting with us (the 'assessment').

How Counselling can help you

Who can use our counselling service help?

Chichester Counselling Services can help people from all walks of life and all ages over 18.

There are times when most people experience difficulties which may be eased by talking to someone who is independent, yet has the personal capacity, skills and experience to understand and listen.

A very wide range of experience can be brought to counselling. Just sharing feelings and thoughts about fears, frustrations and helplessness can help people to gain fresh insight into themselves. Memories of the past, painful experiences in the present or the search for a more meaningful personal life can be explored in a way which friends or other agencies may not be able to assist.

People thinking about counselling may be:
  • Worried about a relative or children within the family
  • Dissatisfied with the quality of their social and working relationships
  • Isolated, lonely or feeling rejected experiencing feelings of haplessness or aimlessness
  • Undergoing a personal crisis of some kind, or a major personal change
  • Worried about a job, overwork, excessive responsibilities - or not having a job at all
  • Depressed
  • Experiencing bereavement and or loss
  • Experiencing marital or other relationship breakdown
  • Suffering from past experiences, maybe in childhood
How Chichester Counselling Services can help you:

Counselling is an effective way of helping people in a safe confidential manner. People seeking help can examine their deeper feelings and discover for themselves new outlooks on life, and be assisted to make difficult choices for themselves. It can also result in discovery of new and different ways of responding to the pressures of day to day living and the manner in which personal relationships work.

Our service offers:
  • A prompt initial appointment.
  • Counselling on a weekly basis in Chichester or Bognor in a secure, confidential and non-judgemental setting. The counselling will be either open-ended - which means no fixed time is set for ending, or time-limited which means that you will agree to a fixed number of sessions up to 12
  • Counselling at a reasonable cost, depending upon financial circumstances (no one is denied help because of lack of money).
  • Professional psychodynamic counselling by one of a team of trained counsellors working under regular and professional supervision.
