Welcome to Addiction Support Care Agency

ASCA - Addiction Support and Care Agency

ASCA is dedicated to supporting individuals, families and the community to overcome alcohol and drug misuse through both prevention and treatment.

We offer a range of interventions including counselling, group- work and holistic therapies in our two sites at Richmond and Kingston.

ASCA employs qualified and experienced staff to work with clients who are concerned about their alcohol and drug use, who want to cut down or stop drinking or who are concerned about someone else's drinking or drug use.

ASCA is a voluntary organisation supported by Richmond and Kingston PCTs, DAATs and by many local trusts and charities.

What is alcohol and drug counselling?

Alcohol and Drug Counselling aims to increase insight into alcohol problems, identify goals and empower you to make your own choices about what you do.Counselling can help you to see your problems more clearly and help to reduce confusion.

Counselling takes place within a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and non-discriminatory environment.

Your counsellor is there to support you in creating goals for yourself and to support you in working towards these goals.

Alcohol and drug Counselling can include advice however it is not about telling you what to do. Alcohol and drug Counselling takes place regularly (usually weekly) and is reviewed after 8-10 weeks.

What issues can you bring?

We are available to provide advice, information and counselling to people who think they may have a problem with alcohol or drugs.

We can provide advice and support to those who want to cut down their drinking or drug use or to stop altogether.

We will usually explore the underlying reasons for your drinking and/or drug use and support you to make the right choices for you.

As well as exploring your own, or someone else's, current or past use of substances, you may wish to explore other underlying issues.

Some of the issues you may wish to explore in counselling sessions are:
  • Depression
  • Relationship Difficulties
  • Eating Disorders
  • Low Self Esteem
  • Aggression & Violence
  • Loss and Bereavement
  • Abuse
  • Stress/Anxiety
