We all encounter situations where a more positive way of thinking would allow us to handle things differently. Kay Cook, from Bath, uses a combination of solution-based therapy and hypnosis, with some NLP and CBT techniques, to work on the conscious mind but also the subconscious mind, where behaviour patterns, beliefs about self and instinctive reactions are held.

Sometimes even small changes in our response patterns can produce a huge improvement in the level of fulfilment clients experience in their lives, and this is so whether they are losing a phobia, gaining confidence, losing weight, learning to concentrate and focus in an exam or sporting event or to cease an unwanted habit such as smoking.

Trance allows direct access to the subconscious mind and positive suggestions and visualisation are used to promote and reinforce positive thinking, creating change.

Techniques are sometimes utilised to process traumatic memories and whilst the memory it becomes an “intellectual memory” without the intense emotion which connected the “hair trigger” - so the unwanted negative automatic thought or response pattern ceases.

Clients sometimes fear being ‘controlled’ while undergoing hypnotherapy but Kay is always able to reassure them. “If we are engrossed in a piece of music and fail to hear someone speaking to us then we are in a trance of concentration, another way we experience trance in our everyday lives is that lovely drifty state we go into when we are between sleep and wakefulness. Trance is natural and very pleasant. I always include a suggestion that only suggestions which are in keeping with the client’s highest agenda will be accepted“.

Kay offers a free, no-obligation initial session and many problems can be helped in five sessions or less.

Smoking cessation is dealt with in single session lasting one and a half to two hours.

For further information contact Kay on 07947 233484 or by email at kt.cook@btinternet.com or view her website at www.newhorizons-hypno.com Appointments are available by prior arrangement at Bath Natural Health Clinic, James Street West Bath and also at The Clifton Practice, 8 - 10 Whiteladies Road, Bristol.

In circumstances where it is not possible for a client to travel to a clinic it is sometimes possible to arrange sessions in the Client’s home although travelling expenses are charged if the Client resides outside Bath.
