Welcome to Alexander Technique For The Cotswolds

I'm Joe Searby and I teach The Alexander Technique, a beautifully simple yet extraordinarily powerful method for change. Its purpose is to help people avoid doing things that are harmful to their general wellbeing. It is unique because unlike most systems that tell you what to do and how to do it The Alexander Technique teaches you what not to do and how to prevent it.

About Me

I completed a three-year, full-time training as an Alexander teacher in April 1995 at The Constructive Teaching Centre, London. I was privileged to be trained by Walter Carrington who was trained by Alexander in the 1930s and worked as Alexander's assistant until 1955 when F. M. Alexander died. I have been teaching full time since I qualified. Most of my work is now in The Cotswolds although I continue to teach on the training course in London one day a week.

I have a special interest in cycling and the Alexander Technique. I have worked with many pupils on and off their bikes, both on the road and on rollers. I have had special 'Alexander' bikes built for me and recently acquired a Pedersen bicycle which allows the cyclist a very upright riding attitude. If you are interested in working on a bike or would like some advice/input on 'Alexander-type' bicycles please don't hesitate to contact me. Happy cycling!
