I offer adult clients short and longer term psychotherapy and self development work. I generally see clients who are experiencing:

• grief and loss, or those who are dying

• Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and burnout

• the effects of trauma and abuse

• limiting life patterns / emotional and energetic blocks

• life transitions, spiritual direction, finding understanding and meaning

• stress, anxiety and depression

• low self-confidence, low self-esteem

• anger and overwhelming emotions

I work collaboratively with you through a proactive process of self discovery. I use my professional judgement and insight to build a strong working relationship with you and support you through the changes you want to make. I value your privacy and confidentiality and abide by the code of ethics of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the Australian Psychological Society.

My approach to therapy is an holistic one that incorporates different dimensions of your being: your mind, vitality or the 'qi' of Chinese medicine and acupuncture; and the spiritual. I do not see these aspects as separate - they influence and interact with each other. Change involves taking into account and working with the whole person.

I use gentle meditative and awareness techniques called IST (Inner Space Techniques) that help you to go beyond the ordinary ‘chatty’ mind and which allow the core of emotional issues to be experienced safely. When made conscious, issues can be transformed, resulting in increased awareness, changes to deeply held psychological patterns, better functioning in daily life and an increased sense of enjoyment, fullness and Self.

These methods work with the source of issues that you are facing rather than working only with symptoms. Many issues may exhibit similar symptoms but have different causes. Working with causes brings lasting resolution.

It is not necessary to know how to meditate or to meditate well to do this kind of work.

I usually see clients for 1.5 hour sessions and am available some week nights and Saturdays.
