    Apprenticeships

For the first time this year, Northumberland College is able to offer Apprenticeships to people aged over 25, as well as to those aged 16-24.

The new Adult Apprenticeships are offered at NVQ Level 2 and 3, and are FREE to both the employer and employee.

So whether you are starting your working life or want to add a recognised qualification to your CV, you can now benefit from free training as an Apprentice.

Training and assessment is flexible – provided in both the workplace, at the college and by ‘blended learning’, which includes e-learning from home. Apprenticeships last between one and four years – and to qualify for an Apprenticeship you must have an employer.

    Higher education

At Northumberland College you will have many opportunities to use your qualifications to progress to higher education, either to universities all over the country or within the college itself.

We offer a wide range of higher education courses at our Ashington and Kirkley Hall campuses in partnership with Northumbria University, the University of Sunderland, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Derby.

InternationalHere at Northumberland College we believe that as we are part of Europe and indeed the world, we should prepare our students to work anywhere they may find a job available.

You will find that studying at Northumberland College often provides you with the chance to travel to other countries as part of your course, and find out what it’s like to be a student in that country.

You may also have the chance to do a work placement abroad in your subject area, providing you with new knowledge and skills and improving your chances of employment back here in the UK.
