SERVICES

Osteopathy Natural Health Clinic was established in 2009, located in Bushey Grove Leisure centre.

Created by Karishma Patel BSc (HONS) Ost. Med. DO. ND, with a mission statement to provide a unique blend of Osteopathy, Naturopathy, Acupuncture, Nutrition and Nutritional Supplementation for modern society and Exercise Rehabilitation as healthcare, to get patients better in the shortest possible time.

Karishma graduated with Bachelor of Science degree, (with honours) from The British College of Osteopath Medicine (BCOM) as an osteopath and naturopath in 2007. After graduating, she completed a course in dry needling, which is a modern form of acupuncture.

Since then Karishma has gained a vast wealth of experience working in various clinics in London and Hertfordshire, for both private clinics and the NHS in GP surgeries.

Originally her background started as a qualified Aerobics and Fitness Instructor, which means that patients can be treated for sports injuries from an osteopathic approach.

Her approach is to combine a unique blend of:
  • Osteopathy
  • Naturopathy
  • Exercise Rehabilitation
  • Acupuncture
  • Nutritional Supplementation

Karishma’s goal is to get patients better in the shortest possible time, returning them to a “balanced” and “pain free” life.

She is registered member with The General Osteopathic Council (GoSc), The Osteopathic Sports Care Association (OSCA), The British Osteopathic Association (BOA) and The General Council and Registered Naturopaths (GCRN). She continues to attend GoSc approved CPD courses.

Friendly and approachable, Karishma is available most days for appointments she will be happy to discuss any problems that she may be able to help with.

OSTEOPATHY

Osteopathy is a unique therapy that can clinically:
  • Detect
  • Diagnose
  • Treat
  • Rehabilitate
  • Prevent damaged or injured parts of the body.

This is not only applied to the spine, but also the whole body concerning elements such as muscles, ligaments, joints and nerves.

For example, if you should have a problem in the neck, this might lead to pain in the shoulders or cause headaches. Osteopathic Naturopaths therefore treat the entire body as a unit using a wide variety of techniques to restore balance.

NATUROPATHY

Naturopathy is a medicine which has a multi-disciplinary approach, which recognises the body’s innate ability to heal itself. This focuses on the prevention of disease and the use of natural alternatives.

For example, we know that if we cut our finger the body instantly starts to work on the damage and within a few days healing has taken place. This healing process is ongoing inside the body and throughout our whole lives. Why do we then get illness or disease? Symptoms such as skin rashes, digestive and bowel complaints, PMS, illness or disease is actually a message that the body is out of balance.

Naturopathy Can:
  • Find the root cause of your problems
  • Stimulate your own healing ability
  • Increase your energy levels and vitality
  • Teach about your body
  • Advise and inform you on a healthy lifestyle
  • Put you back in charge of your health.

Naturopathic Treatment Involves:
  • Nutrition
  • Stress management
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Detoxification
  • Osteopathy
  • Exercise Regimes

TREATMENT INVOLVES

Osteopathic Naturopathy

This uses a variety of soft tissue massage, stretching, mobilisations and manipulative techniques. In relation to your aliment, this is coupled with postural advice in conjunction with treating the whole person and looking at the body’s structure, mind and nutrition.

Cranial Osteopathy

This is a gentle technique working with all the involuntary movements of the structures within the head and spinal column. In instances such as: acute problems, babies & whiplash.

Visceral Osteopathy

This is a technique applied to organs of the abdomen, useful in treating conditions such as constipation, IBS and many others

Dry Needling/ Modern Acupuncture

This is a therapeutic tool that can be used for pain relief as well as for certain non-painful disorders. Its main advantage is that it works in some disorders for which there is little or no effective treatment.

Sports Injuries

By understanding your sporting activity (and injuries associated with it) your osteopath can help improve: sporting performance, speed up recovery from injury and offer preventative treatment from re-occurring injuries.
