Professional Development

The School was developed after its Principal discovered that there was a lack of expert training in the area, leading to recognised qualifications in Training Courses in Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Anatomy and membership of recognised professional bodies in the therapies offered, and therefore is responding to the need for high quality training in the Yorkshire area.

The School offers an open and caring atmosphere, which engenders feelings of enjoyment in learning, and an awareness of self-development and aims to provide programmes of extensive practical and theoretical studies in each of the courses offered.

The School provides accredited courses of International Federation of Reflexologists (IFR) the largest International Reflexology body in the world. The School's Aromatherapy and Massage are accredited with the Aromatherapy and Allied Practitioners Association (AAPA) and the International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists (I.F.P.A.), who are both members of the Aromatherapy Council (AC) and also a member of the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT). The awarding body for the Courses in Massage, Aromatherapy, Reflexolog and Anatomy & Physiology is the International Examination Board (IEB). The School also offers the most extensive range of Continuing Professional Development course with Internationally renowned speakers (please see Professional Development for details). It is a requirement of the school that all students hold an appropriate up to date first aid qualification. The School regularly provides Appointed Person First Aid Courses.

For information on financial assistance to support your learning, please visit www.direct.gov.uk/adultlearning or contact 0800 100 900.

The School operates a system of Accreditation of Prior Learning for those with relevant recognised qualifications. Students will cultivate an understanding of complementary healthcare from a holistic standpoint and develop the ability to evaluate and analyse complementary therapies in the framework of allopathic medicine.

A variety of books, journals and articles on health related studies are available for use within the premises.
