SERVICES

Welcome to Massage MFR

I have a lifelong passion for horses and have ridden since I was eleven years old. After seeking pain relief through complementary therapies for myself and my horse and seeing the amazing results, I have spent the last few years training in human and equine anatomy, physiology, massage and myofascial release. I am aware of the profound healing that informed, intuitive and caring touch can give and now have the qualifications, knowledge and experience to offer you this service.

I also hold the Intelligent Horsemanship foundation certificate and have successfully used Monty Robert’s methods on many horses.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release (Muscle Fascia Release) is used for the release of fascia (connective tissue) which has become stuck, hardened and dehydrated. Fascia is a three dimensional web that surrounds every bone, muscle, nerve, organ and vessel down to the cellular level from head to toe. Restrictions can develop in fascia from trauma, poor posture and repetitive training. These restrictions can create pain, swelling, misalignments, poor muscular biomechanics, decreased range of motion, decreased strength and lameness.

Restrictions in the fascial system can put up to 2000lbs of pressure per square inch onto bones, ligaments, muscles and organs causing the structures to misalign or become constricted resulting in ineffective muscle usage, poor circulation, build up of toxins, strain and eventually trauma/injury.

Myofascial release (MFR) is used as my main modality during a session as it is most effective at facilitating the body's innate healing to realign bony structures and release deep seated tension and trauma.

Massage

Massage is a natural and instinctive means to relieve pain. The use of massage was recorded in China as early as 3000 BC. The unique feature of holistic massage is that it emphasises the importance of the “wholeness” of the client in the relationship between body, mind, spirit and emotion.

There has been a marked increase in stress related illness such as irritable bowel syndrome, high blood pressure, insomnia, headaches and stomach ulcers. Most people work in competitive environments with many potential stress inducing features such as poor posture, computers, mobile phones, unrealistic time schedules, insecurity of job tenure etc. Life in Western society can be very demanding and the consequence of this is the range of disease and disorder experienced by so many today.

Approximately 60% of body weight is made up of muscle. Massage causes the muscles to fill with oxygenated blood flow and increases circulation, which hastens the elimination of wastes and toxic build up from fatigued muscles. Removing harmful toxins from muscles and joints increases flexibility, muscle tone and range of motion. By using a consistent massage routine you can improve your performance, confidence and quality of life.
