Welcome to Maria Maguire Therapies
I have been studying and working in the field of Complementary Medicine for 20 years. My early training started with Reflexology, Massage Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, Kinesiology (Applied and Creative) and I have also trained as a Reiki Master and have a BSc(Hons) in Health Sciences from University of Northumbria, Newcastle.
Postgraduate courses include Holistic Hypnotherapy, Past Life Regression, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Voicework. I also have a Diploma in Acting and Performance form Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh.
What Are Complementary Therapies?
The term ‘Complementary Therapies’ is often used collectively for a wide range of treatments, such as Reflexology and Acupuncture and I have listed below the treatments that I am qualified in. These therapies were often previously referred to as “alternative” , therby suggesting they were instead of, or even in competition with conventional medicine. This is often the reverse, rather they can work very well, hand in hand and some are now offerred on the NHS.
The terms “Holisitic” and “Integrated” are also used similarly. It covers a wide range of individual disciplines – many of which stand alone as excellent therapies for specific problems but many of which can be combined to achieve the desired results.
