Life can be difficult, and when personal problems begin to escalate, most people make the mistake of battling on regardless, hoping it will all come right. But anxiety and stress are a vicious circle that unless dealt with effectively, spiral out of control and can lead to insomnia, depression and a growing sense of unease and alienation.

Psychotherapist and hypnotherapist John Edmiston has developed a process of powerful relaxation techniques, NLP and advanced hypnotherapeutic procedures, that alleviate the underlying emotional sources and root causes that generate stress and conflict.

I also use a wide range of exercises and strategies in my personal coaching and counselling that can provide real structural changes to external sources of stress.

Each situation, each client is unique and each treatment is individually tailored for that client.
It is usually a combination of work, career, personal and domestic issues that all combine to bring a situation to a head. It helps to have someone to talk to who is very experienced in the way the mind works and who can see exactly what will be right for you.

I have a very simple, direct and friendly manner which people seem to respond to. I get to the bottom of deep emotional situations very quickly and people are often amazed at how simple yet effective my treatments are.

My approach is based on my deep sense of service to those who are in need and the spiritual values of compassion and kindness.

Many people experience situations and circumstances in their lives which bring trauma and personal suffering and a sense of loss or deep grief.

Most of these difficulties arise from family and relationship problems and a feeling of not being able to connect to one’s true direction.

I believe that however badly you have suffered, however “wrong” your situation is now, healing and personal transformation are possible at a deep and profound level.

I am committed to helping you through your difficulties and assist you in making those changes that will alleviate your suffering and make a beneficial and positive difference in your life.
I create a sense of security in which positive transformation can take place.

Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis. It is a branch of psychotherapy successfully used in dealing with a wide range of presenting issues and stress-related illnesses. It is just one of the many procedures I use to help my clients.

I am a practising Buddhist and have done meditation practices for over thirty years.

I first qualified as a Psychotherapist in 1984 and have worked full time as a therapist since 1994. In 1995 I founded Phoenix Divorce Recovery to help men and women recover from the trauma of separation in their personal relationships and to assist them to rebuild their lives. Every year I facilitate several Phoenix courses.

Over the years I have supported thousands of people on their journey through life and helped them move on, reshaping and discovering a brighter future.

If you are currently experiencing more difficulty that you can cope with or would welcome some assistance - in strict confidence - please feel free to call.

I am a Member of three National Registers and am bound by the codes of conduct and ethics of each.

PHOENIX DIVORCE RECOVERY

A course and support group designed to help you rebuild your life after the break-up of a relationship.

With the ending of a relationship comes emotional upheaval.

People usually experience:-
  • Shock - I just can’t believe it.
  • Anxiety - How will I cope?
  • Confusion - Why is this happening?
  • Isolation - I’ve never felt so lonely.

Feelings of rejection and betrayal, anger, grief and an overwhelming sense of loss make it hard to see that there is a way forward.

People often don’t know who to turn to when friends take sides, or well-meaning relatives don’t seem to understand.

Whatever your situation, it’s important to know there is a process of recovery.

This 15 week course is carefully designed to assist people through the various stages of the recovery process, and to help them rebuild their lives.

This programme will benefit all men and women who have recently been through the painful break-up of a relationship, or who have unresolved issues from a past separation.

Each of the 15 sessions of the course focuses on a different aspect of this recovery process, guiding participants through each stage. The groups provide an opportunity to meet others who are going through the same experience, and to share thoughts and feelings in an atmosphere of genuine support. Participants will gain fresh insights and understanding into why their relationship has ended, and develop positive strategies to move on and begin to reshape their future.

You will receive help and support
  • to adjust to change
  • to understand the recovery process
  • to grow within yourself

You will learn new strategies
  • to identify and overcome fear
  • to re-examine rejection and guilt
  • to deal with anger
  • to come to terms with grief

You will gain insight into
  • patterns of behaviour
  • why relationships sometimes end
  • what is important to you
  • what it is you want now

You will discover how to
  • re-establish your self-esteem
  • achieve greater flexibility
  • let go
  • nurture yourself

You will find
  • warm and helpful guidance
  • an opportunity to develop new friendships
  • a chance to express how you really feel
  • a new perspective on your past
  • a chance to reshape your future

You will also learn how to help your children recover.
