Welcome to Homeopathy In Oxfordshire

Homeopathy is one of the leading and oldest forms of natural therapy. More and more people are turning to homeopathy in their search for an alternative form of treatment.

Homeopathy is a holistic form of healing, which recognises that symptoms of ill health are a sign of disharmony within the whole person. Homeopathic treatment assists the body’s natural tendency to heal itself and restore the inner balance.

I hope this website will help you decide whether homeopathy is for you, but if you require more information, why not give me a call or email me. I am happy to discuss your individual circumstances and answer any further questions you may have.

Mother and Baby

Mother and BabyHomeopathic remedies are ideal for use during pregnancy and childbirth at a time when it is best to avoid conventional drugs as much as possible. Pregnancy sickness can often be relieved with homeopathic remedies and they are also useful for many of the other symptoms that can arise during pregnancy.

During the birth itself, homeopathy is also vital. It can be used to turn a baby presenting in the wrong position, promote labour when the baby is overdue and to help establish regular contractions once labour has started. Homeopathy is also helpful in supporting the mother emotionally during the various stages of labour.

After the birth homeopathic remedies assist with healing and are invaluable in the treatment of problems such as mastitis and postnatal depression. They are also suitable for treating newborns – see section on treating babies and children.

I hire out homeopathic birth kits, together with full instructions. Before the birth, I meet with the prospective parents and discuss the use of the kit. If required, I can also be available for consultation by phone during the labour.

Whilst homeopathic remedies are very useful, including in crisis situations during a birth, they should be seen as complementary to conventional treatment in life threatening situations.

Treating Babies and Children

As a mother and former early years teacher, I particularly enjoy treating children. I have plenty of toys and drawing materials in my consulting room to help children feel at ease.

I am flexible with consultation times to accommodate nap times for babies and after school sessions for older children.

Every parent wants to avoid giving their child conventional drugs as much as possible. For instance it is now recognised by GPs that antibiotics have been prescribed much too frequently in the past, making them less effective in crisis situations. This is where homeopathy can provide a real alternative in childhood.

Young children usually respond very well to homeopathy because their vitality is generally so good. It is very rewarding to be able to save children from interventions such as grommets and to clear their eczema and avoid the use of steroid creams. It is often possible to address such problems as recurring chest infections or tonsillitis, thus avoiding repeated antibiotics.

Unhappy babies, who are distressed by birth trauma, also respond very well to homeopathic treatment, as do children with sleep problems.

Homeopathy can assist in the treatment of various childhood behavioural disorders, such as hyperactivity. The symptoms of autism can also be ameliorated.

The Consultation

I work from a consulting room in my home near Abingdon. This provides a comfortable, friendly setting, where patients feel able to relax. Homeopathic treatment is a partnership between patient and practitioner. The more you can tell me about your life and what makes you ’tick’, the more accurately I will be able to prescribe. Everything you share will be treated in the strictest confidence.

The first consultation lasts up to 2 hours, which gives me the opportunity to listen carefully to you and find out how you are experiencing the symptoms, which are troubling you. I will also ask about such things as food preferences, anxieties and fears, sleep patterns and dreams and about your interests. Your family health history is also helpful. Please feel free to mention anything that is important to you, even if you are not sure whether it is relevant. Many patients have told me that they find the consultation itself therapeutic.

Follow – up consultations are usually 45 - 60 minutes. The number of visits required will depend on the nature of the problem and when it started. You will normally require at least 2-3 monthly visits to restore your sense of well being, but in more longstanding problems it may take longer. Once you have experienced homeopathic treatment, you will begin to recognise for yourself when you need further visits, maybe once or twice a year.

After the consultation I will spend time examining the information you have given me in order to select the remedy with the best possible match to your symptoms and the way in which you are experiencing them. Your remedy will then be sent to you a few days after your consultation, with clear instructions about how to take it.
