    About The Therapist

Glyn's interest in biofeedback was first sparked in 1998 in the course of some personal research into the physiological basis of meditative states of mind. A long-time practitioner of meditation, Glyn was attracted by the powerful potential of biofeedback both as a therapeutic tool and as a means to facilitate meditative concentration.

Glyn trained in Ericksonian therapy with the National School of Hypnosis and Psychotherapy, and began practising as a therapist at a natural health clinic in Manchester. He trained in biofeedback in Switzerland, and gained preliminary certification in 2005 - there being no equivalent training available in the UK.

Glyn moved to York in March 2005 when he established York Mind-Body Health, formerly known as York Biofeedback Centre. He also spends time developing biofeedback-related software products.

"I have found biofeedback invaluable in treating my anxiety. With the help of this technology I became aware of the physical impact of my anxiety, and learned effective mind-body skills, which have helped enormously in reducing my anxiety. Before attending Glyn's therapy sessions, I tried many other treatments and strategies to reduce my anxiety. I would say that the strategies Glyn uses have helped me by far the most."

    - Karen, West Yorkshire

    How Biofeedback Helps

Biofeedback monitors the body's physiological responses in relation to your changing mental states, and feeds back the information in real time via computer, allowing you to learn to change physiological state.

  • Biofeedback is based on learning and awareness and so creates lasting benefit.
  • Biofeedback is safe and non-invasive.
  • Biofeedback is based on science and a growing research base.

    Neurofeedback

A form of biofeedback, neurofeedback measures activity in the brain itself. Feedback stimulates the brain towards better self-regulation - the basis of optimal cognitive performance and emotional balance.

Neurofeedback is effective therapy for neurological and developmental disorders including ADD, ADHD, autistic spectrum, epilepsy and brain injury as well as emotional problems (e.g. anxiety, depression). Read more about neurofeedback.
