    About Us

The College of Osteopaths has specialised in the provision of part-time flexible osteopathic programmes since it was first established in 1948.

Our student-focussed programmes are ideal for a wide-range of students, including those with non-traditional qualifications, those with families and those considering a career change.

A significant part of the programme is delivered at weekends, which means you can organise your training around family, work and social activities.

The dedication required is exceeded by the reward. You will be working with professional staff in an enabling environment and on graduation you will be entering an exciting profession.

The College of Osteopaths has been successfully awarded recognised Qualification (RQ) status with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) for both the London and the Keele programmes. Graduation from a college with RQ status is required to enter the osteopathic profession.

    Students

Our students come to the College with a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience, and with their own personal and professional challenges.

Recent college statistics show that most students entering the course (80%) are over the age of 25, and from the UK or an EU country, and the majority are aged between twenty-five and forty. Also most students completing the course go on to full time or part-time work as an osteopath in the UK (80%), or in an EU country (17%). The remaining students choose to go on and do further health-related study, often at postgraduate level.

    What our Students say

"..I would thoroughly recommend The College of Osteopaths. They are totally geared to people with busy lives, at work and at home.. .I attended the Foundation Course in the summer before I started. It was a great opportunity to be gently and entertainingly introduced into the world of osteopathy. When I started my first year, I felt I was up to speed and ready for whatever the course had to offer."

As a mature student coming from another country I found the College friendly and supportive of my needs, right from the initial interview. I had no formal qualifications and entered as an Access student. The course to me was a life-changing journey."

"Training to become an osteopath was the best thing that I've ever done. I've gained lots of knowledge and it has opened many doors for me. One of the really good things about the College is the tutors, they really like what they are doing and are all passionate about osteopathy and what it can do."

    Training

The College of Osteopaths offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for osteopaths and other professions allied to health. The strengths of the programmes offered lie in the College's tradition in delivering quality part-time education to students combining study with working full time, bringing up a family or those looking for a career change. The College of Osteopaths is experienced in educating students from non-traditional backgrounds, and is also able to offer individually designed fast-track degree programmes for students who have a degree in health or biomedical-related subjects.

There is the option of studying in the south or the north of England, at the London or Keele campus of The College of Osteopaths. The study programmes are delivered in conjunction with Middlesex University and Keele University respectively.

The College expects to be delivering two post-graduate osteopathic programmes at its London campus from September 2008; an MSc in Clinical Practice and an Advanced Diploma in Osteopathy.
