Miscarriage is the loss of a foetus before the 20 week mark and is able to survive outside of the uterus. Genetic abnormalities, hormonal problems, maternal health problems and infections are known causes of miscarriage however there is not a comprehensive understanding of what causes a miscarriage. Signs of a miscarriage may include bleeding, cramps, severe acute abdominal pain, fever and backache. There are prevention strategies which can decrease your risk of miscarriage, these include taking folic acid, health diet and exercise, no smoking or alcohol and checking the safety of medications with your doctor.
