SERVICES

Welcome to Zen Shiatsu Necastle

Shiatsu is a Japanese, hands-on, holistic healing art for body, mind and soul.

Shiatsu can help to bring relief to a wide range of health problems, as well as calming the mind and producing a feeling of well being. Regular sessions can help prevent the build-up of stress in our bodies, thus increasing our capacity to ward off ill health.

Shiatsu follows the Chinese theory of medicine, where Ki (or energy or chi) is believed to flow through our living bodies in a number of channels. When this flow of energy becomes blocked or stuck, this is when symptoms of dis-ease arise. Shiatsu works to restore this flow using relaxed pressure using hands and thumbs, combined with muscle stretches and joint rotations.

Shiatsu helps to bring balance and flow on a physical, mental and emotional level. Sessions last 1 hour, and cost £40.

Benefits of Shiatsu

Shiatsu...

  • reduces tension and stiffness
  • improves sleep
  • relieves stress and anxiety
  • increases energy
  • encourages deep relaxation
  • restores balance

Our bodies have an amazing capacity to heal themselves, but all too often in our fast paced society, we do not give our bodies the opportunity for this to happen. The build-up of stress and tension in our bodies can lead to all sorts of health problems. Shiatsu can help us to learn a different way of being in the world - one where we can slow down a little, become more aware of our physical bodies, and learn to let go.

The benefits of Shiatsu can be experienced by anyone: young or old, fit or unfit, male or female, in good health or poor health. Shiatsu helps our bodies to tap in to its own healing potential. Many conditions can be relieved through receiving Shiatsu, such as:

  • stress, anxiety and depression
  • muscle, joint and back pain
  • headaches and migraine
  • menstrual problems
  • chronic fatigue and ME
  • digestive disorders

Of course, you may not have an identifiable disorder, but more a general feeling of being 'just not right'. The beauty of Shiatsu is that it can address any imbalances in your body before they develop into symptoms of dis-ease.

You may also, of course, be quite fit and well. Great! You probably want to keep things that way. In this respect, Shiatsu can also be of benefit to maintain your wellbeing, and help prevent ill health from arising.

    Testimonials

"I would like to thank you for the Shiatsu sessions. I found the experience very relaxing and peaceful, yet felt energised, calm and reinvigorated when I left. I would certainly recommend your sessions to anyone looking for physical and for mental balance again in their lives. I look forward to more Shiatsu with you again in the future. Thanks again."

    - Jill Amery, Civil Servant

"I initially came to Kate due to a knee and back injury and was also generally suffering from low energy because of this. The treatments I found very beneficial to restoring energy throughout the body and helped towards the 'self' healing of the injured parts and rebalancing. I had a number of treatments over a 6 month period and found Kate to have a very understanding and intuitive approach of which her background in Reiki and Buddhist practices added to the overall benefits. I can highly recommend both Shiatsu as a treatment and Kate as a practitioner."

    - David Atkinson, works in Sales and part-time Yoga teacher

"I came to Kate for Shiatsu to try an alternative therapy which could help me re-establish my energy balance, during a period of stress I was experiencing. I did not go seeking a specific cure for a disease. I found the treatments to be very beneficial. Following a session I found I was re-energised and relaxed, and felt balanced and calm. In the long term I have found that the sessions have helped to alleviate my IBS. I think that Shiatsu is a non-invasive therapy that can offer immediate benefits, bringing a sense of calm and relaxation to the mind in parallel to energising the body. I have found Kate to be a reliable and efficient practitioner and would recommend her and Shiatsu to others."
