ONE TO ONE TUITION

STRUCTURAL ALIGNMENT THROUGH VISUAL DIAGNOSIS AND REMEDIAL PRACTICE.

This is an ideal for both total beginners, and those wanting to enhance an established practice.

A One To One yoga session is an opportunity for an in depth look at posture, and examination of how habit creates posture. Yoga, Pranayama, Breathing, Meditation, Relaxation, Shiatsu and Fascial Release Massage, Hands on Healing, listening/discussion and dietary/lifestyle recommendations are all available to support the journey in addressing the root of habitual ways of holding, in the physical, mental, and emotional bodies.
The One to One session is ideal for identifying areas of the body where tension is held, and therefore, energy not flowing freely. Through the physical and subtle practices, a listening to what the body is saying is encouraged, engaging in a dialogue between mind and body, ultimately leading to a more coherent and comfortable lightness of being, bringing about more freedom in the Whole, thereby facilitating alignment with a fuller potential.

For beginners:
Many people, when starting to learn something new, can feel intimidated at the prospect of joining an established class in which everyone seems to know what to do, except for yourself.
An initial lesson prior to joining a class, gives confidence in basic techniques, postures, principles and vocabulary. It is also an opportunity to get to know the teacher, and to ask as many questions as you like. This style of learning suits some on an ongoing basis, as well as being the stepping stone to participation in a class. (It is important to point out that an initial 1-2-1 lesson is not in any way vital to join an established class. A good and empathetic teacher should be able to teach to the level of all members of the class. Some people simply like to initially learn the basics on a 1-2-1 basis).

For the more experienced practitioner, specific areas can be worked on, giving time for more dialogue if required.

One to one sessions are by appointment, and cost £45 for an hour, £60 for one and a half hours, and £75 for two hours.

MEDITATION RETREATS

For those wanting to go into Retreat for extended meditation periods, please email me with your requirments, as special rates are available for that purpose.

Class Times

Weekly Classes and Private Tuition at Oulton near Aylsham, North Norfolk.

I teach weekly classes, which are suitable for people at all levels of experience, in which as well as practicing postures, students will experience relaxation, pranayama (breathing practices), meditation and philosophy.
Classes are small, with no more than 10 people. This ensures personal attention and focus on individual and group needs. It also means that classes get filled up quickly, so contacting me to reserve a place is essential.

Themes flow naturally from one term to the next. For example, the theme for Autumn 07 was Yamas and Niyamas, the Yogic principles for living harmoniously in relation to ones self and community. Discussion was backed up by asana, pranayama and meditation to exemplify the principles.
Spring 08 focussed on yogic cleansing techniques (kriyas), working towards inversions, with a deep meditative flavour running through the later lessons.
Spring 09 classes focussed on establishing a personal yoga practice, looking at surya namaskar, sun greetings, whilst looking at mystical readings and discussing the philosophy of those who wrote them.
Summer 09 classes focussed on using knowledge of the muscular system, along with classical practices, such as uddiyana bandha and the breath, to help readjust uncomfortable habitual holding patterns in the muscular skeletal system in order to cultivate a more comfortable environment in which to live. I.e., working with a deep level of conscious awareness in the yoga practice can help to disperse aches and pains!
Summer 2010 - exploring developmental movements to bring increased awareness and connection into not only the physical practice, but a deeper satisfaction in life generally, through a reuniting with parts that had been 'forgotten', leading to a sense of joy and freedom on many levels, in relation to Self, life, and others.

............................................................

Classes are at the following times, and tend to follow school terms.

TUESDAY MORNING WEEKLY CLASS
9.45—11.15
£6.75 per class, paid for in advance, for the term.

FRIDAY MORNING WEEKLY CLASS
9.45 –11.15
1 1/2 hr class £6.75 per class, paid for in advance, for the term

TERMS OF BUSINESS
Terms are paid for in advance. A taster class is recommended before committing for the term, which costs £8.00. No credit is given for missed classes as the class sizes are so small. I do, however, actively encourage people to swap between the classes to make up for missed sessions, but do not give refunds if this is not possible.

PRIVATE TUITION
Available at £45 per session for one hour, £60 for one and a half, and £75 for two hours.
I will travel, if you cannot get to me. Please contact me with venue location and I can let you know the cost.
