Talking to a compassionate and impartial counsellor can help

Sharing your experiences with a genuinely warm and accepting person may be all that is needed to get you back on your feet. Counselling can provide a safe place to support you in this. It can help to talk to someone who is not involved with your life; who has not contributed to your problems and who has no preference concerning decisions you make about your future.

Each person is unique with different experiences and individual needs

I will try to understand what you want to achieve and help you achieve it. We will spend most of our time together talking but it won’t be like conversations you are used to. As a counsellor, my job is to understand how you are experiencing your world and what is happening to you¬, so I will spend most of the time listening while you talk. If you decide to change anything at all about yourself it will be because you want to, not because I think you ought to. You may not have any real goals, but someone simply listening to you may be enough for you to feel valued and worthwhile again.
All sessions are in total confidence.

Choosing to go to counselling is not easy, as you are admitting that you are not managing your life as well as you would like and that you need some help. There is no shame in that and believe me when I say that you are not the only one who finds it hard to take that first step. Also what is going on for you is very private and personal, so finding someone that you can trust is another hurdle. As a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I observe and adopt their standards and guidelines for practising ethically and safely, which includes confidentiality and your personal safety.

I bring knowledge and understanding gained through maturity and life experiences as well as over 3 years voluntary work with Cruse Bereavement Care and the Old Mill Foundation (holistic cancer support centre) amounting to over 200 hours. I hope that you will be able to trust me, as I truly have your best interests at heart.

How much will it cost me?

There are many reasons why people choose to seek counselling and sometimes even your GP has recommended it, but sadly is unable to offer it for free or there are long waiting lists. I feel that mental wellness should be given the same attention as physical wellness, so offer my sessions as cheaply as I can to those on low incomes and the full cost is not prohibitive for everyone else.

My practice is based in Killay (in Swansea) and I see clients on a Monday between 2:30 and 7:30pm. If this is not convenient, alternative arrangements can be made such as a different venue, day or time. Home visits in the Swansea area are a possible, but travel expenses would be charged on top of the normal fee.

I can also offer consultations on the telephone, by email or using Skype. These will be charged at the concessionary rate and paid for in advance through PAYPAL.

Session fees £30

Concessions £20

It is hard to predict how many sessions you would like so try one and see how you feel – it is always up to you.
