At times we don’t want to burden family and friends with our worries. We can try hard to protect the ones we love from the things we have experienced or witnessed. Sometimes our unease relates to things that happened a long time ago and we may feel confused or ashamed. We often don’t want people to think less of us when we’re struggling to cope. Or we might feel we don’t have anyone to share our concerns.

It’s at times like these that talking to a counsellor / psychotherapist can be helpful. In the safety of a professional, confidential and supportive relationship you can talk freely without fear of being judged or dismissed. You can talk about the feelings, concerns, memories or images that you have kept inside for so long.

Counselling and Psychotherapy are means of learning more about yourself and how you relate with others. The counselling therapy process helps you to gain a perspective on whatever is troubling you. Looking into the underlying causes of what is stopping you living a fulfilling life and being who you are.

What might you gain from counselling therapy?
  • A sense of clarity of your current situation
  • Make sense of the past
  • Identify the choices you have for change
  • A change of perception
  • Increase your self-awareness
  • Gain more self belief and self worth
  • Feel more confident
  • Feel less overwhelmed
  • Feel less isolated
  • Have a sense of relief
  • Increased sense of an ability to cope
  • Feel more calm and in control of your life
Many people experience emotional and psychological challenges throughout their lives. It is often helpful to talk through our worries and concerns. Individual sessions offer an uninterrupted and focused time to talk freely about whatever issues you choose to bring. In the safety of a confidential environment you can explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that is comfortable for you. It is important to me that you feel heard and understood in a non-judgmental supportive relationship.

The focus and aim of therapy is for you to become more in touch with your feelings, emotions and experiencing. My approach is tailored to your needs. We may consider your current difficulties in the context of past influences and experiences, exploring your childhood, significant relationships, beliefs and responses. By making sense of the past and gaining insight into your current situation, you may be able to recognize choices available to you and make changes now and in the future.
