SERVICES

Welcome to Nick Hall Therapies

Remedial Massage is about fixing things that have gone wrong with a body’s muscular system. Using a range of techniques carefully selected for each client and each problem.

Sports Massage has the extra focus on getting the athlete back to peak performance — and keeping them there.

Benefits of Massage

  • Rebalance your body’s structure by identifying and releasing tensions
  • Reduce headache intensity, frequency and duration
  • Flush out toxins by stimulating blood and lymph flow
  • Minimise scar tissue effects at injury sites
  • Increase muscle flexibility to enhance performance and prevent injuries
  • Maintain muscle tone and extend your playing career
  • Address postural problems that may be painful or limiting
  • Break the STRESS - PHYSICAL TENSION - PAIN - STRESS cycle
But this is not an exhaustive list by any means. If you are unsure please just call Nick for a confidential chat to see if he might be able to help you.

Remedial Massage

Remedial Massage is all about putting right the things that have gone wrong. Using massage to eliminate the pain, reduce the stiffness, increase flexibility and get you back to normal.

Injuries can be the result of sudden trauma or a long-term problem that has been building for some time. And they can be the result of a whole range of activities whether it's sport, gardening, playing with the children or just life. I treat a lot of people who are suffering from a combination of long hours at the PC and stress.

Once the initial problem has been resolved a routine massage will keep it away and nip any other problems in the bud. A regular massage is usually recommended every few weeks but the frequency depends on circumstances. Typically around every 6-8 weeks seems best.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage includes all the elements of Remedial Massage but with the extra focus, advice, help and support to get athletes back to peak performance and keep them there.

And you don't have to be an international hurdler, triathlete or channel swimmer to benefit from Sports Massage. All sports men and women, whatever your level, place unusual demands on the body. Any repeated strenuous activity can cause similar problems to sport. Modern theatre productions can place big demands on the actors, for example.

With Sports Massage the extra elements, over and above Remedial Massage, include:
  • Reduce muscular pain following training or competition
  • Early identification of potential problem areas prior to traumatic failure
  • Improve muscle extensibility and joint flexibility
  • Optimise injured tissue repair
  • Pre-event massage to reduce injury risk and improve performance
  • Post-event massage to improve recovery times
  • Assisted stretching
  • Personalised stretching program
  • Support and advice

Sports Therapy

The goal with Sports Therapy when dealing with an injury is very straight-forward:

Return to full, functional fitness in the safest, shortest possible time.

The key elements involved in this are:
  • Examination and Assessment (including referral if appropriate)
  • Damage limitation (e.g. RICE)
  • Sub-acute injury management
  • Regain ROM (range of movement); maintain strength
  • Mobilisation; build strength
  • Late-stage rehabilitation
  • Regain full function
  • Address the causes to prevent re-injury
  • Psychological factors may need attention
  • Discharge to full training
  • Return to competition
