Traditional Chinese Acupuncture
Acupuncture works to help maintain your body's equilibrium. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body to regulate the flow of 'qi', your body's vital energy. For a number of lifestyle and environmental reasons, qi can become disturbed, depleted or blocked, which can result in some symptoms of pain and illness. In certain instances, traditional acupuncture can be an effective therapy to help restore balance and promote physical and emotional harmony.
Treatment is aimed at the root of your condition as well as your main symptoms. This approach helps with resolving your problem and enhancing your feeling of wellbeing. You may notice other niggling problems resolve as your main health complaint improves.
Many people come to acupuncture for help with specific symptoms or to relieve specific pains like osteoarthritis of the knee. Some use acupuncture because they feel generally unwell but have no obvious diagnosis. Others choose acupuncture simply to enhance their feeling of wellbeing. Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages including babies and children. It can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine.
Holistic Facials
Acupuncture, acupressure & skincare facials available. NYR products used: 100% natural, no petrochemicals, parabens, synthetic fragrances or artificial ingredients.
Massage & Other Therapies
Swedish Massage
Swedish massage is a full body massage designed to reduce muscle tension, improving overall well-being. It has an effect on most of the body's systems, helping to relieve and relax the body through the stimulation of muscles. This massage can be tailor made to what you need from the treatment whether it be relaxing or energising.
Indian Head Massage
Indian Head massage is given with the client sitting in a specially designed ergonomic chair. It covers the head, neck, shoulders, arms, back and face. You will be fully clothed and hair oil may be used on the scalp if requested. This treatment can improve the condition of your skin and hair and give relief from stress and tension.
Pregnancy Massage
Pregnancy massage is great for relieving muscle tension as well as aches and pains. Lymph drainage helps to clear swelling in the hands and feet and both anxiety and blood pressure can be reduced. Studies indicate that massage therapy performed during pregnancy can reduce anxiety, decrease symptoms of depression, relieve muscle aches and joint pains, and improve labour outcomes and newborn health. Safe techniques for the whole body are used at different stages of pregnancy with the client lying on her side.
Reflexology
Reflexology works on the basis that there are areas in the hands and feet associated with various glands, organs and regions of the body. It is deeply relaxing and can prompt the body to heal itself. Reflexology is very helpful in alleviating stress-related ailments as well as promoting a sense of calm and well-being. A treatment uses pressure on specific areas of the feet to stimulate healing in the corresponding part of the body. This releases areas of tension and helps energy to flow more freely throughout your body.
Maternity Reflexology is aimed specifically at women during pre-conception, pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period.
Thermo Auricular Therapy (Hopi Ear Candling)
TATh is the therapeutic use of Hopi Ear Candles. A hollow tube is placed in the ear and lit to create a moderate suction designed to stimulate the ear, nose and throat. Treatments can relieve the build up of wax, ease sinuses and treat a variety of ear, nose and throat problems as well as colds, headaches and stress.
Massage in Schools Programme
MISP is for children aged 4-12, it is a peer massage performed sitting down and fully clothed. The teachers or instructors do not touch the children. Afetr gaining parental permission, the massage routine is introduced gradually to the children. The strokes have familiar names and are performed in a sequence to help memory and concentration. Areas covered are the head, neck, shoulders, arms, hands and back.
MISP has many benefits for the child such as improving concentration, co-ordination and memory. It creates a better atmosphere in which to learn and builds trust and friendships. It also boosts confidence and reponsibility in learning a new skill. This will make the classroom a calmer place to work, fits in well with Health Promoting Schools and can be introduced to each class as part of the curriculum.
