SERVICES
Shiatsu works with you as a complete being, body, mind, emotions and spirit. A gentle and powerful holistic therapy, it is a traditional form of bodywork, originating from Japan. Regular Shiatsu can help to prevent the build up of stress in our everyday lives and many people find it a great support in difficult times. It can help you become more in touch with your own body and feelings.

What is special about Shiatsu?

Nurturing touch
A Shiatsu practitioner uses subtle qualities of human touch, presence and connection. Like acupuncture, Shiatsu comes from the rich traditions of Oriental medicine and shares a similar understanding of life. Instead of needles, it uses forms of touch, pressure and connection to work with the energy (Ki in Japanese) in the meridians and body.

Works to balance areas of need and tension
Shiatsu moves and balances Ki, which for many reasons may stop flowing freely and can produce various symptoms.

Treats the whole body
with special attention to areas most in need of it.

Techniques are chosen to suit each individual
A Shiatsu practitioner has a wide range ways of working to suit each person as they are at the time: gentle holding, deeper pressure which may be made stronger by leaning body weight, stillness, dynamic movements and stretches and treating acupressure points with a thumb, finger or heat.

Shiatsu is given through clothing
This improves comfort and enables a connection to be made at a deeper level.
